Perhaps the most recent reincarnation of APOCALYPTICA's a natural evolution: the Finns present themselves on their new album with a fixed singer. Franky Perez does his job excellently, but I have to honestly say that I have taken up the result at first ambivalent: with crisp songs like 'Cold Blood' is the typical flair APOCALYPTICA lost - even if 'Cold Blood' a strong pop rocking number is, so come but the cellos in the background. But it's not all in the new direction: the seven and a half-minute song 'Shadow Maker' shows APOCALYPTICA at their best and most diverse side and Franky Perez puts a lot of emotion in this powerful and very heavy number.
Even with a gloomy sad number between ballad and fatty Rocker 'Slow Burn' works combining Celli-Perez very well. Ok, let's assume the Popfaktor good note. There is also the ballad 'Hole In My Soul' stored similar to past scars almost kitsch alarm and heart warming. But really worth buying make it the instrumentals 'Reign Of Fear' and 'Riot Light', which leaves first stop with its samples, but is ultimately excludes terrific. I could listen to the instrumental group for hours! But vocally there are highlights. In addition to the numbers already mentioned is the magnificent ballad 'Sea Song' great cinema in which the fine exceeds 20 MATCHBOX-like vocals as contrast to rich cello riffs. And with 'Dead Man's Eyes' set APOCALYPTICA still a ten minute melancholy finale, which relies heavily on atmosphere.
APOCALYPTICA convince 2015 still instrumental, although the focus has unfortunately shifted significantly towards singing and "normal band" - and with this song the Finns were also radio-compatible, which means losses towards their own, but the band hopefully a few new fans will bring. All in all, "Shadowmaker" but a great record with many earwigs and can compose Toppinen and co definitely still.
