VLC for Fire, because now the Fire TV stick for example, has little memory is only play from the network makes sense. And here there seems to be a bug. As with many other well - Notebook and NAS (Synology DS 213) are indeed displayed but after selecting a device you can see only the search ads and nothing more.
Can not really be much of a problem because:
-I have also 'ES File Explorer' installed by sideload
-there I choose a file on the NAS on the network (video, avi H.264) and get there including the VLC offered as a playing program
-If I VLC now select the video from the network will be played without any problems
