Before I get to the apps, six points of criticism to Windows Phone itself:
1. Will you wake the phone from sleep mode by double tapping, it often reacts only at the second or third attempt.
2. There seems to be no way to turn silently on a button on the device to create, you have to make five actions instead: Double-Tap, then select a button on the device, press the small arrow on the screen then tap a speaker icon press and even a note symbol. For BlackBerry and iPhone that goes blind in his pocket, and that is also very handy if you suddenly need to go to a meeting.
3. Battery charge level indicator: No percentage display is possible as the iPhone.
4. In the settings you can select using the "fast action" four apps that you can start from a menu in the lock screen. Unfortunately, the torch is not one of these, that would be more than obvious (under iOS is the default). And it gets worse: There is no pre-installed Flashlight app.
5. The list of settings is nicely categorized and everything is labeled. Unfortunately, you will not find their way anyway, because these labels are often meaningless. The "fast action" can be found, for example, under "Notifications".
6. In writing sometimes strange disturbances can be seen, looks as if all the horizontal pixel lines are missing, for example, in the Lumia aid app. I've never seen the iPhone 4 anywhere.
Now for the pre-installed apps.
1. The pre-installed navi "HERE". That dropped me off in the first test (ride from Munich to Kaufering) somewhere in the no man's land on the road - without comment, the guidance was too late, but the app was still running normally. With Apple Cards mine is not yet happening. In retrospect, I asked myself: Why has ever piloted me the thing from the highway in some highway because Kaufering is yes to the highway ...
2. The PDF viewer. Under Windows Phone Acrobat Reader starts, iOS reputation in the operating system is integrated. That said, Windows Phone will open a separate application when you open as a PDF from a mail out. This is not tragic. But really bad is the text representation in Acrobat Reader: significantly blurred.
3. A timer app, for example, in order to provide fast times in the kitchen a 5-minute Countdouch, there is not. On iOS called directly from the lock screen out. Makes sense, very practical, I use constantly.
Now for my experience with third-party apps. Counting this fact to assess the product that I purchased? Definitely, because what you have because nowadays a mobile phone? Right to use apps on. Can call all. And if the apps do not go, then I can phone just simply not allowed.
Amazon: On iOS really an app with many features, including Windows Phone rather a better browser, not as nicely integrated, it is slower. But quite usable, just not as good.
Kindle: It bothers reading that the display contrast decreases significantly when you hold it a little crooked (for example, if it is on the table in front of a). This is the iPhone 4 is not so, the contrast is still the same. And unlike the iOS version, the font does not change.
Waze: Unfortunately, much less stable than the iOS version (I have left multiple stand forever in the route search, had to quit the app and restart).
Threema: All functions available on iOS, it also seems to be in the Windows Phone version, as I have at least not miss anything. But still does all the app an immature, fiddly impression. Sorry, I can not describe better.
YouTube: Is there not? Maybe I'm wrong, but at least no native app and I would have liked, so I can see my favorite again etc. per user account. Well, on the Internet Explorer it is going somehow, I have not tried, but that's me too cumbersome.
Google Drive: Not from Google itself, only by a third party, in accordance with poorly integrated with the operating system - on and this is particularly important in Google Drive, because so many times you open so documents, partly in order to also edit and then again in Google Drive . Save
Timer: There is no one pre-installed, to install up to one. Unfortunately not configurable lock screen, as in iOS. In addition, due to a limitation in Windows Phone only to the minute.
All Apps by Synology for my NAS, it I save pictures, notes, documents: significantly limited functionality, and important for me touch station is not available. Before buying I was hoping you could be on the Internet Explorer use on mobile phones, unfortunately, that's not at all, because if you want to drag the window, a drag will drop triggered with devastating effects (notes are moved to other folders).
We have also attached a nice screenshot of the battery charge decency app that I have downloaded, in the absence of an integrated display. Read and enjoy :-) course a bug that clicking "Cancel" does not lead anywhere. Apart from the fact that the app does not work: The live tile displays an outdated status.
Conclusion: Clearly just toys. To play Minesweeper on the phone actually makes fun :-) For the second star. But I must return, I would therefore, as described above greatly limited compared to my old iPhone 4. With Android I find the lack of rights management as a no-go (especially the will nachinstallierbare always delivered only with a long delay after the updates), consequently remains only Apple.
