We started then with a typical Discoutbrett. Basically not bad, the coating the board was always too thin, too heavy, has eventually begun to rust, as then steam came into play, swam regularly the ground under the board, etc.
Eventually one decides (with us by the fact favored that we both wear shirt or blouse) but some extra money to invest "ironing" in the comfort and sets out to search for different variations.
We currently have landed by chance in a complete station of Laura Star, and had before it the TN20350 Siemens. The latter I want to take as direct sparring partner, because the technology (fan) is identical to Leifheit.
The Leifheit is good and appreciated at packed. Included in the package is the board, the attachable slaughter / cable holder and an instruction manual.
What stands out here is the first, is the lighter weight (for Siemens board). The weight reduction comes from the fact that the bearing surface of the entire board is a type of Styrofoam (as now in all middle and high-price boards Leifheit. Personally, I find that to be very pleasant, although unfortunately I have one of those people who like to briefly leave the iron on the board in order for example to fold the shirt. This faux pas acknowledged the Leifheit unfortunately relatively quickly with an on molten surface (of course, below the reference). This had to take place with me rethink and I ask the board now automatically to the appropriate edition.
Otherwise, the saving in weight is of course wonderful, the board is set up quickly and easily and is stable.
The contact surface is not behind, as in Siemens, foldable. Thus, the Board is naturally higher in the sum, which should be no problem if you can leave it just anywhere. Who wants it, for example be accommodated in a cabinet, which should check in advance the dimensions.
Another advantage vs.. Siemens is the design of the fan. The Siemens has the fan, relatively centrally mounted below. This has the massive disadvantage that when you are done with the ironing and the board sets up, the water can not drain, jams and could lead to mold growth in the worst case. Here Leifheit evolution carte blanche and the ventilation / mounted at the bottom rear. If you set the board so so down, can back off dammed water and run out and the board stays clean.
Otherwise there is little to report further:
* Board manufacturers adapt more and more to the body statures today. That is also the Leifheit can be high (me> 1,90m it fits wonderfully, without having to be bent) to deep (an acquaintance of us ~ 1,60m) set in small steps.
* The Leifheit has similar if not the same, rubber feet untern. Basically, the Board is therefore very stable, travels with us but a little, if you extensively and long irons.
* Suction or bladder function performed perfectly their service: the relation remains much longer dry (even with long steam ironing sessions), lightweight materials remain in place, the ground stays dry and you actually need a little less time and effort, to the laundry to get perfectly smooth - just great.
* A wide steam generator iron from AEG has on the shelf enough space and is good and stable.
Conclusion:
Who can do without the heating function of Siemens boards who puts little emphasis on the design factor and a light and above all very functional board searches, which can and should strike the Leifheit. From our side, a clear recommendation!
Only the non-folding shelf that very sober design and the supporting surface, which imposes on me to rethink the filing of iron that cost Leifheit recent Stern - nevertheless: a super price / performance ratio.
