Windows 7 Starter is only a waste of money. He has been compared in an article by chip.de Windows 7 Starter with Windows 7 Home Premium using the PCMark 2005. And Windows 7 Home Premium totaled more points in the benchmark test. Otherwise, the performance differences between Windows 7 Starter and Windows 7 versions are minimal other. The only advantage of Windows 7 Starter is that this version 350 MB RAM (150 MB less than other 32-bit Windows 7 versions). Also in the battery life there is no difference between starters and other versions. These Windows 7 Starter as compared to other Windows 7 versions relatively many restrictions. Just google "Compare features: Starter Home Premium vs." type and go to the website of chip.de. There Windows 7 Starter and Home were compared in a table. Why voluntarily waive certain functions? In addition, a netbook should have 2 GB of RAM, 1 GB because in my opinion is too little (depends of course depend on what you need to be netbook or which programs are used or how many are open simultaneously).
I have 7 Professional 32-bit installed on my netbook Windows and am using the speed / power more than satisfied. All required drivers for Windows 7 is obtained on the manufacturer's website: (! Use English website) support.acer.com. A note to drivers: For the netbook, there are 3 different wireless LAN driver. The correct driver from Broadcom. I would recommend it to anyone to install or update all new drivers from the manufacturer's site, since Windows itself is installed, most drivers and this but (strong) are outdated. (Note for people with Windows are familiar bad: You can check this yourself where you clicked under Device Manager eg on audio, then Properties -> Driver and then looks for Driver Date In Device Manager can check her also. if all the drivers are installed.)
It should also be noted that in this netbook already the new Intel Atom N2600 processor is installed. Most other netbooks (eg Acer Aspire One D257) do not have the "old" N570 Intel Atom processor or worse. The new processor N2600 was manufactured nanometer process in 32 and thus consumes less power (only 3.5 Watt) than, for example N570, which consumes 8.5 watts (according to Intel). For pure CPU tests has N570 slightly ahead. However, once graph comes into play as Flash, the new N2600 processor is significantly faster. Enter at Google "N570 vs N2600" and click on the web netbooknews.com.
The netbook looks visually very classy and is very well made. Just as a netbook should be! From my Aspire One D270 gets (with 2 GB and Linux) 5 star!
Instructions for Windows 7 - How to install Windows from a USB flash drive:
I tried to create a bootable USB flash drive, which unfortunately did not work (does not seem to stick with each) with "Windows 7 USB / DVD Download Tool" from Microsoft. Here therefore is a clean pattern for those who do not want to install any shareware or bad open source programs on their computers.
USB flash drive (4GB) to the computer, "cmd" and start the following commands in sequence typing (in the brackets I have explained these commands):
diskpart (start the program)
list disk (lists all the volumes on)
select disk # (here choose the right number for # or enter, otherwise you delete the wrong disk or your hard disk! In the "Size" column gives the size of the disk. So you can a USB flash drive from your hard disk differ. )
clean (Disk Cleanup)
(Create primary partition) create partition primary
select partition 1 (select it)
Active (activate or mark it as active)
format quick fs = (create FAT32 file system on the stick) fat32
assign (a drive letter assigned. Stick is integrated and automatically open)
exit (leaving the program)
Then just copy all data from the Windows 7 DVD in the drive. If you have, for example, ISO image, you can just unzip this with WinRar or ie Daemon Tools open / mount, and then copy the contents of the file on the stick.
After netbook on - Press> F2 and adjust the boot sequence so that the netbook from a USB stick to boot. And then again adjust the boot sequence so that it will start Windows 7 from the hard disk.
Addition:
To use all the features of the netbook, you must install the following:
1. Launch Manager of the Acer website
2. Synaptics TouchPad driver (32 bits) to the multi-touch to activate Support
