have put together a new PC I just over a week ago. Only after a few days a lot to me on the Realtek ALC 887 onboard sound chip is not the performance takes as its predecessor (the old PC). So had to quickly establish a solution, so I X-540 5.1 system can properly listen to music with my Logitech again. I was looking for a sound card for a reasonable price, but still has a lot to offer. It was not long and I push on the Xonar D1 soundcard Asus. After a short deliberation I ordered the card. 2 days I had the card wait until they finally with me to my home desktop stand.
The installation was very easy and quick. With the current drivers of Asus.de Windows 7 Pro x64 accepted the Asus card easily.
Jo, full of expectations I opened my windows media player and launched an mp3. At first I was disappointed. The bass had a very shallow and the heights very metallic. But the disappointment faded after about 15 mins after I rummaged through me by the Asus sound driver and had made the appropriate settings for me. I have to say I am absolutely thrilled by the Asus Xonar D1 sound card. Rich bass, clean highs and a sound which I kept at my X-540 never possible !!

- Driver software confusing and difficult to understand
- Front panel headphone and micro connections must be activated each driver manually before you can enjoy music Ex .: a headset. (!!)
All in all, the Asus Xonar D1 7.1 Sound Card is a fine piece of technology. Sure it would be even better if the sound driver does not would have been so sloppy, but maybe at the price you can live without that. Who will be familiar with PC's reasonably have no problems configuring. And people may have no particular computer skills to access anyway for the price there is no better sound card currently on the market which is processed as high quality.
