After the price has achieved something more tolerable regions, I could not help thinking of the urge and wanted to find out whether the sound of the Shure SE535 offers really the difference in value compared to the SE425 necessarily. So I pulled myself together and have entered into the risk and have ordered the 535er. The Amazon delivery was (as always) rapidly and reliably.
Before I go into the sonic details something to use and the consumed by me Music: The headphones should not only for my "normal" music consumption own, but also suitable for the stage his (drums & vocals) and for mixing and mastering recordings (Classical to rock) serve. These already requires an analytical sound image, there's unfortunately no possibility of placing high-quality monitor speakers.
Musically, I am moving in the classical period, but at least as happy in jazz-rock / fusion / rock plains and listening very happy artist from Sheffield label (James Newton Howard & Firends, Michael Ruff, Clair Marlo), Jeton (Charlie Antolini, Wolfhound), DMP, GRP (GRP Live in Session), Karizma, Toto (Tambu!), Joe Jackson (Big World) to name just a few.
To arrive at the sonic details: if I had guessed before, then me the detour via the Shure SE425 would "save" remained. This he is my reference receiver! That what this "headset" conjures up in the ears is difficult to put into words. Crystal clear highs, mids and a superb kackiger Bass (punch the bass drum is there where it belongs too!). With this headset you not only what's in, but better on the ears. What the SE535 is magic in your ears really great cinema.
The music is not just played in the head off, but one has to be able to really touch feel each musician with his eyes closed. Each individual can hear exactly places and. In particular, the fall in albums such as "West Coast All Stars" (only voices and finger snaps - otherwise no other instruments) or "Friends of Carlotta" (B & W) (the list could be almost arbitrarily extend - at least on albums where this was required ).
Even with other direct-sectional images falls (Sheffield Lab, Jeton) this immediately. One can the bass and skins swing förmich hear (and see). There is something new to discover every time the favorite tracks. As if a curtain falls. Even if you have previously heard much beautiful and it "somehow" there was, so get the whole sound structure a new depth, a new dimension.
The album "James Newton Howard & Friends" is likely many who are on good sound (rather audiophiles) be well known. However, as here, the percussion parts (played by Joe Porcaro)
are exposed (to drive without the overall structure in any negative direction) and the small "gadgets" of the drummer (Jeff Porcaro), that's what I've always "somehow" missed.
Well, not everyone likes the in-ear technology and there is a sufficient number of advocates of the On-Ear Earphones (with corresponding Stax because it may also give rise), the in-ear earphone represent a "compromise", when a compromise is so sounds - like!
As a player among other things, the much-maligned Apple products were used (in addition to an iPod Classic a iPhone 3 and 4) and also here the effects described above was absolutely audible and comprehensible. An iPod Classic does not have really behind other devices to hide, although it is that love proclaimed.
On the effects and discussions about the pros and cons of MP3 (Lame or Fraunhofer), .wav or FLAC & Co. I would not go into here, but these headphones will forgive anything - no matter what the format! Each error is audible and all over the brutality. Any bad panel, the use of limiters and compressors, etc. everything is exposed mercilessly.
One of the drawbacks of this analysis is simply the which just simply make a lot of shots not fun anymore, because they are much worse than one has heard that before and wanted to believe (this includes many, many recordings from the 80s, where the multitrack recording some really has been exaggerated).
It is important: When selecting the "right" eartips really should take time when most are already made here the decisive error and many may give up too early, because the desired sound simply do not like to set. This is due not only to the ear pitfalls, but also how listeners are used. The latter requires some practice and is not just "tuck and go" even after some training with realizing. Some time before you have to give, but the result makes up for it all the more.
Personally, I find the wearing comfort very well (I use the Foam Sleeves in size "L" although I do not have huge ears) - and also the cable over your ears guided ('m wearing glasses) does not bother me in the least - but that does not like each true.
Overall, I regret to this headset only one thing: I did not buy this earlier.
Update (15.06.2011):
After this receiver is now several weeks in operation, I can my enthusiasm and rating still hardly slow in terms of sound. Many, many albums I've really rediscovered (Joe Jackson's "Blaze of Glory" is a prime example).
Also the comfort is still given to me for hours - I like to let run the cable over the ears the concept. Even when wearing glasses it does not bother me - although this may be different for each. The stiffening the connection ensures a relief when worn, because the bend "noticed" and is therefore always equal nachezu runs.
Accessory still following:
- The storage box is made of nylon (or at least similar material) and remains in its intended form. However, I must admit, make the other manufacturers but a ticking noble. But if Shure should rather have put the difference into a Luxusbox in the sound, it's me all the more right.
- Hm, the enclosed volume adjuster is there already extremely Borderline: It is not often in need and he does what he should, but it is not adapted to the entire product. Bad processed, wobbly and of the cheapest plastic - only thing missing was that the part of rattles. For the one or other useful, but by implementing her really bad.
- The airplane adapter is stable and makes a robust impression - just simply functional.
- The adapter from 3.5mm to 6.3mm jack has gold plated contacts and has a solid construction.
The selection of earpieces is relatively huge and it is also a problem to find the right earpieces. However, since you want to be all ears justice, the inclined buyer this listener should give itself time and play around with peace. The "aha" experience comes, certainly - but only needs to match everything.
An important note, I want to give: it is sometimes extremely difficult to get these eartips of the filigree "Tonaustrittsröhrchen". The solution: The handset put in the freezer for about 3-5 minutes, then replacement is considerably easier. But please do not forget the handset in the freezer, I'm not sure how these headphones tolerate. This tip comes incidentally from Shure Support and is not an invention of mine. I beg of corresponding claims for compensation with regard to this indication in sight. Everyone is responsible for his frozen in-ears yourself!
In this sense: Enjoy listening and discover !!!
