I have a new MBP (mid 2010) and even here, the adapter transfers no sound. Thus, the lack of sound transmission is not, as claimed in many other reviews, because the used MacBook transmits no sound signal through the Mini DisplayPort. I have now gained an expensive adapter is easily transmitted through the sound also.
