When searching, I came across August Bluetooth NFC EP636. From the price, design and functionality of the headset seems to me convincing. Although in some reviews of comfort and Basslastigkeit were bemängel, I decided to buy the EP636.
Here are my experiences after 3 days of operation.
1. Getting started
The EP636 has a permanently installed Li-Polymer battery with a voltage of 3.7 volts and a capacity of 195 mAh, which needs to be charged before first use.
To this end, the manual writes connection to a "line-powered USB port" in front. USB ports of computers and charger for mobile phones on the other hand provide a voltage of 5 V at a current of 500 mA (at computer) or 5V with 750-1500 mA (AC-charger for Smartphone). That is, USB ports have not only a higher voltage Special also provide a much higher charging current.
Here one can only hope that the battery life is not reduced by the differing charging voltage and the high charging current.
For the first charge I have to EP636 - angestöpselt to a USB connection from your computer - using the supplied cable.
After about 2 hours charging time, the status LED changes from red to blue on the headset, signaling the full charge and availability ..
The first connection via Bluetooth to the smartphone was fast and easy.
Press the MFB button on the outside of the right ear cup for 5 seconds and enable the scan function in the Bluetooth settings on the smartphone.
After a few seconds the headset is detected and connected the Smartphone.
2. sound quality music playback.
Here one must not expect miracles. The EP636 is missing here unfortunately, the depth and structure of a balanced sound Erlebnises.
By this I mean the transparency in the interaction of the musical instruments and the clear reproduction of vowels presence of the artist. The sound is not balanced with low notes easily dominate. At least that is my personal impression compared to a wired headphones (Beyerdynamic DT 311).
Nevertheless, the bleating of the highest level. Considering the price range in the moves of the EP636, so has the head higher than average good price / performance ratio. This also in relation to the necessary sound quality.
In addition, the headset offers the possibility to connect with another Bluetooth devices. Thus one has the choice between two Bluetooth sound sources to change.
3. sound quality in phone mode.
If the EP636 powered smartphone on it can be used as a speakerphone.
For incoming calls, the music playback is interrupted, and the calls can be taken against keystroke. Through repeated keystroke will end the call.
The clarity is good although a slight Hall resonates at telephone operation in the voice of the caller. The Hall effect also hear the caller.
But as I said: The intelligibility is still well preserved.
4. Design and comfort.
The processing of the headphones makes a good impression. With only 130 grams it is also pleasantly light.
The discreet matt held surface looks elegant and underlines the futuristic design.
The inside is lightly padded both in the earpieces and the ironing area.
Only the spring clips from the headgear is designed a bit too hard for my feeling.
For extended wear one feels the pressure on your ears uncomfortable.
About an extension mechanism of the ironing of headphones can be adjusted.
The adjustment positions, respectively a latched at a distance of 4 mm.
The function keys on the right earphone side are arranged flat and therefore unremarkable.
When the keys the pressure point is clearly noticeable. Fine studs on the key surface help palpation
the desired function key.
