Sigh No More (New Version) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Everybody praised "Sigh No More" last autumn. Well, not the whole world, pitchforkmedia.com gave as 2.1 out of 10 points. But love also only weird music, something handmade that's contrary. But those who handmade music like that found "Sigh No More" really good. So that would have also what must be for me. But while you listen because I get no access. Nothing. Nada. Niente.
And then? Record of the Year at any Internet music page (plattentests.de? Helga-rockt.de? I do not remember). Blind purchase. And stormy love with the plate. Although I doubt very much that the band around Marcus Mumford has written the songs exactly as whether or not these arrangements but rather go to the account of producer Markus Dravs. Because all the interspersed cellos, trumpets, wing horns, trumpets, violins and violas and What Else to hear there still so that it is impossible to expect on a debut album and then also believe the tribe actually only from the minds of a quartet.
Be that as it may, the arrangements, by whomever thought, are just great and make good very good songs. The dynamic is unique and so hard to find on "modern" productions where everything has to be just loud just yet. But they can also quietly. Take for "The Cave": Quiet Song, only the chorus's is hearty. The song rises more and more. And if there shortly before closing suddenly stands out this a trumpet melody from the full orchestra, then that is so majestic, like a trumpet can sound only. And if in "Roll Away Your Stone" and particularly in "Little Lion Man" a banjo is played to ecstasy, then that is quite large.
Well, "Thistle & Weeds" is perhaps somewhat arbitrary and in "Dust Bowl Dance" the band wanted to rock necessarily what music rather goes so then and the vocals of Michael Mumford sounds almost equal to at least three songs: a gift. Mumford & Sons make this perfectly produced piece folk-pop almost everything right, break right with - and have posted at least three songs for eternity.
