Customer Review

For the Jazz, the songbook of the Beatles is a rich treasure trove. The International Formation Appleton enriches the canon of the Fab Four derivatives to a joyful improvisation variant in big band robe.

The Beatles are a safe bet for jazz musicians. Many jazz groups have the classics dedicated to more or less creative Esprit. The high recognition value helps mostly across interpretive weaknesses. There can be in the current album of Appleton Here, There and Everywhere the question. The eight musicians around the two vocalists Caroll Vanwelden and Barbara Drennan bring new voices and varied interpretations into play. Nine titles, including five number 1 hits they have imagined and formed under the direction of Chris Perschke to rousing arrangements. Flagship of the three-member horn section with Thomas Siffling on trumpet, Chris Perschke on trombone and Andreas Pompe on saxophone, who savors his creative freedom with ingenious improvisations. Hallmark of the formation is the expressive Belgian singer Caroll Vanwelden who attended with her Shakespeare Sonnets already a sensation.

Significant proportion of the congenial interplay, also the three brothers John Brenninkmeyer on piano, Chris on bass and Stephen Brenninkmeyer Brenninkmeyer on drums. With melodic lines on guitar Harald Terkowsky enriches the pieces. The fact that the band members in England, Belgium, Holland and Germany are at home, certainly contributes to the quality of the album. Conclusion: Appleton moves refreshingly jazzy style with a lot of groove and funk and soul elements the great pop icons to the body.
