The iPad can easily be in the Case Insert and, thanks to the soft inside of both front and rear maximum protection. The leather case feels great and is with its shape and the low weight of only 147g very good in the hand.
The slightly protruding edge is not disturbing at all in my opinion, the iPad does but of course a little thicker than it would actually be necessary. The Smart function at inlet and unfolding is, however, not affected at all and is working properly. The stand-up function is not quite as stable as hoped, for my purposes, but still perfectly adequate.
Conclusion: The price of the original Apple Smart Case Although significantly higher than the other cases, but I would buy it again and again, because the very important for me feel and light weight or volume convincing in my opinion.
