Served by superb writing (the Japanese literature lovers who read translations Corinne Atlan already know), this novel plunges into the heart of Japan nineteenth and history spans several decades. His brisk pace makes for easy reading. Extremely well documented, however it can be read on several levels according to our interests: enjoy the beautiful history and the wisdom of a monk enamored of truth, learn more about the development of modern society in Japan, or, about the link between Shingon Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism. Thank you to the author for this work, which surely deserves at least 2 readings!
