1. REQUIREMENTS
I have a sealable decanter sought that fits in the fridge and in which I can keep home-made drinks without these take the flavors of other foods in the refrigerator. Target met.
2. MATERIAL, PROCESSING AND OPERATION
The glass is unusually easy for a decanter of this size and looks fragile, on the other hand she touches his stable. According to the manufacturer's instructions is borosilicate glass which is to be particularly hard. I'm not a material researchers, beautiful material designations not impress me first. I can only report from the user's perspective: An upset in the sink has endured the carafe, a fall from the kitchen countertop or a throw against the wall, I have not tried yet. If that still comes, I will supply later a report ;-)
The lid consists of three parts that are joined together. The lower part of the lid of the carafe is made of plastic. It is simply pushed into the carafe neck and seals with a triple plastic lip off. When Außgießen he remains firmly seated, does not have to be held and is dense. Good solution!
On the plastic cover there is a stainless steel lid that closes the carafe. When unpacking, I was skeptical at first, thinking that this is a very rickety affair. Namely, the lid is not screwed to the plastic base, but, pulled by the weight, which projects into the interior of the jug down, when the carafe is vertical. He is just loosely on the plastic. When pouring the lid is not raised, but opens the flowing outward fluid and weight transfer selbstätig, always downward. That's clever. Aligns to the carafe back on to the stainless steel lid pushes by the weight itself back into the groove of the plastic base and thus closes the carafe. This is not airtight seal, as it would be about when screwing the case, according to my previous experience, but sufficient to protect the flavors of the food in the fridge each other. The documentation retained by the carafe drinks will be consumed quickly but in any case, so it is not necessary for me that they stay for days in the carafe.
Really good is the drip-free pouring. I have been here many victims Werbeversprechen - the manufacturer of this carafe is one of the few that holds it. I have the times tested during slow pouring: it remains one drop of the drink depend on stainless steel lid. As you raise the carafe and the sliding back of the cover of this drop is then fed back into the carafe - which is probably only works because of the stainless steel lid does not seal 100%. It runs not on the glass down outside. Toll!
By design allows the carafe when pouring with lid not empty until the last drop. Here it really concerns only drops - no need for a devaluation.
The decanter at the top of the neck has a diameter of about 7.5 cm, then tapers to about 5.0 cm, and then finally the carafe has a bottom diameter of 10 cm. Wide enough to throw up pure fruit and put the carafe in the beverage compartment of a modern refrigerator. Who uses in beverage Fixierlamellen, which bottles and cartons should be held in place, they should probably take out. The height of the carafe of 31 cm can force the reconstruction of the beverage compartment, but I find them good.
The capacity I'm interested sake verified sometimes. You hear every now and then, that manufacturers do not take this information as accurate. Brimming and without cover sums up the carafe 1.4 liters. By design they can be but never quite fill. Filled up to the level with the smallest diameter of the decanter gets you into about 1.2 liters. Still more, as the manufacturer claims.
3. CLEANING
Cleaning is easy. The cover can either rinse completely or by unscrewing the weight divided into three parts. Without unscrewing the lid, can not be separated from the plastic base. But that is certainly only necessary if the solids are stuck in the filter slots. When drying and polishing the glass body from the inside you can help out with a wooden spoon, but you get it back without.
4. PACKING
Packaging is to say the least, extensive. I used annoyed my siblings for Christmas, while I packed a small packet in ever larger packages. Amazon can apparently also. First, the carafe is wrapped in simple, thin paper. So it comes packed in a colored presentation box, which in turn, plugged into a larger cardboard box, which is equipped with spacers made of cardboard for absorbing shocks. Amazon wrapped the whole thing again in a bigger carton. When the package arrived, I first asked if someone has ordered shoes. Two pairs. The advantage of course is that the decanter is truly unbreakable packaging and no plastic or plastic, but only cardboard and paper to protect has been used against shocks. That is at least superficially more environmentally friendly.
If there is something that has bothered me on the packaging and on the I must therefore point out to avoid being mistaken for a purchased by the manufacturer reviewers, it was the tape was attached with which the stainless steel lid. The really worthy of the name and can be removed without residue difficult. If the manufacturer, an employee is reading this: that's even better.
5. CONCLUSION
Given the highly positive price-performance ratio but falls this point not much significant, so that I can recommend without reservation the carafe. That's why I'm going to hear the same times on myself and another order to me.
Update 27 May 2015.
Even after almost two years, daily use still everything like the first day. However, I do not use dishwasher.
