Customer Review

There are people it is difficult to store in a genre, and Benjamin Clementine is one. Is it blues, soul or folk? None of these styles really seem to define the work of this artist from London-Ghanaian and French adoption. In fact, listening to his record, it is believed (despite English lyrics) in the French way Brel song (itself not really French elsewhere) or Ferré. For Benjamin Clementine is a singer who speaks while singing, which overcomes the usual rhythms in his phrasing, and puts an incredibly powerful emotion in his interpretation.
Vocally, he also made many think of Nina Simone, which is no small matter, giving much gravity in his song, capturing the listener to each song. This is an album that is not just background music, but an album that listens and savored. And if we know that Nina Simone was a fan of Brel (his cover of Do not Leave Me is a classic), we can say that Benjamin Clementine seized improbable and yet so strong link that unites these two artists.
