As professionally throughout World traveler (especially in areas of conflict with Travel Warning) it is important to me an unobtrusive (ie compact), but as it's most powerful to have in this size / use.
And this camera is after weeks of research reports and tests (near Sony's RX1 for 2500 and Fuji's X100S for 1000 - both but unfortunately without zoom and "more difficult" user interface and slightly larger) definitely settled on the top compact camera segment - accordingly can also be the justify price for me.
Largest additional Plus in addition to the reviews previously mentioned:
-Good user interface (touchscreen) - Spec. recommended for beginners
-High quality / robust finish
The biggest minus for me:
-Fehlender Integrated viewfinder (and expensive separate replacement -> 280) - but not a "must" for me
-Teures Accessories
EDIT:
1. Did I take the beiligendem shoulder strap - a more practical for me wrist strap Canon bought (Canon WS-20) that visually and functionally fits well. After I carry a compact not like reassigned for security in conflict areas (Yemen, Nigeria, etc), or to not unmasking as a tourist resort areas but rather hidden but close at hand - this makes me a lot more sense.
2. Also - because the camera does not fit into any trouser pocket - I wanted to have something more or protection for this was a small bag essential (Amazon):

This is in my opinion for the G1Xm2 as they like only is ideal as small possible -. And the camera fits perfectly in the tray (which is ideal for this fast and sure to have handy addition is discreet and high quality clear accessory Buy recommendation. ,
