Initial situation:
Reinforced concrete building, Fritz! Box 7390 in the basement, LAN connection to FRITZ! WLAN Repeater 300E on the 2nd floor there since arrived no more WLAN and also on the 1st floor was already very weak, despite copious experimenting with the site of the Fritz! Box in the basement (alignment antennas or the device housing makes quite what part of).
The FRITZ! WLAN Repeater 300E began last week suddenly whistling, an unpleasant high-pitched noise, which even after a night in which he was staked out and did not stop after the current software update.
Since my parents with a Fritz! Box 7390 had the problem that calls repeatedly for different time broke (Despite software updates / new Fritz! Fon phones), new supply cable, etc. and the Provider (M-Net) no reason on his side for could find the crashes I have the 7490 bought my 7390 with whom I never had problems to establish with my parents.
Unpacking / Installation and connection of 7490 are really simple and like the 7390th
For those with special Aufstell / installation situation:
The case of the 7490 is a little bigger (WxDxH: 245 x 175 x 55 mm) than in 7390 (WxDxH): 226 x 160 x 47 mm).
! The acquisition of the configuration of the old Fritz Box7390 worked flawlessly:
- Saved configuration of the old Fritz box with password protection to your computer!
- New connected Fritz Box 7490, configuration of PC Recovered
- "Register" at the Fritz! Fon MT-F cordless phones in the menu chosen and DECT button on the Fritz box pressed long / held!.
All three Fritz! Fon MT-F functioned perfectly after registration of the new Fritz! Box 7490.
After not even quite 10 minutes, the conversion was accomplished and Internet / WLAN and telephony via the MT-F functioned as before - or better:
Advantages of the Fritz Box 7490 compared to 7390:
The repeater we no longer need, at exactly the same line-up of the new Fritz! Box does the Wi-Fi throughout, incl. 2nd floor, so it seems to be really better.
In the other floors it works more stable and with better field strength.
USB 3.0 works better (UMTS stick to call or data transfer with the connected USB hard drive).
The connected via the USB port of the HP Officejet also works well with all Windows and Apple computers.
Conclusion:
So far, no disadvantages / problems found, the statements of AVM after which allegedly WLAN and USB Improved seem to be true.
