So it's that time again. A new album of Unholy and simultaneously also the last chapter of the band must be purchased from now. Once again, we are surrounded by his poetic texts with melodious sounds. Theme this time is "trailblazer" in other words, the ups and downs in life. The musical journey from Earl and his band go here up and down as well. Rock elements interspersed with beautiful and sometimes creeps from ballads, but also elements from pop music to keep one, more on that later.
It's amazing how the band have managed since celluloid repeatedly stuck on every album the intros and outros, which have actually musically distinguished only by the text as a catchy tune and welcomed the new album and brought to a conclusion. This art can hold only a few bands over the years as a consistently high level.
I will not go into all the songs, because I do not agree all the pieces and are therefore limited to the most memorable songs.
Dropping down to one
The album starts (usual) very rock and shows the count again from his famous (old) side. A nice piece, which do not want to ignite all at the beginning, but blossomed in the course of the song.
Time to go
A nice thank you to the fans. Although quit at the peak is no longer quite so fit, but still significantly better than never to see.
Between Light and Shadow
Fantastically beautiful melancholy song. Somewhat reminiscent of Born to live, but the text is so under the skin that this song as the first single should have loud. For me the highlight of the slower songs.
Echo
A nice number, in a little recognizable in the chorus the background melody of Breathless. For me this is definitely one of the better tracks on the album.
Hero for a day
Remembers not everyone how he wanted to be a little kid once a hero? Some people can this idea never in my life going on and another makes it rather cold aged.
Walk in the Clouds
Very beautiful and musically again at a high level. Again a beautiful ballad that leaves a wonder why more such sad ballads about a deceased person?
Hand in hand
One feels somehow reminded of how you went about 14 years in hand with Unholy hand. A deal was struck by the whole band well. Because despite dispute between younger and older fans, it is a little wistfully.
Conclusion: The headline of light and shadow makes it quite well in my eyes. A highlight of this album is in his career, considered sober, not. This time missed with his band the Graf. In Gipfelstürmer Count has indeed put back more of its lyrical side to the day, as it was recently the case in Grosse Freiheit, but it is the pop elements, the (still) hard to be me in the stomach. I have nothing against pop music, because there is certainly also good hit, but I do not like the band in this division. It's not easy to be regarded as fan albums sober since the subjectivity often involves a lot of influence in the evaluation.
Nevertheless, it is time to say thank you. Thanks for the eight concept albums. They were lyrically and musically memorable and will be heard in the future. From a purely lyrical, the big time was clearly recover before the big success. Nearly every song was catchy and had that special something. Therefore, the new album is almost matching the strongest albums, but not quite. But perhaps it is also the change that by making every person with in life, not to find anything nice, what you felt nice even years ago. Compared to the last album City Lights won Gipfelstürmer significantly to quality and send the fans thus a bittersweet smile in the musical bond and four good stars.
