Blue Murder - The true sequel to White Snake in 1987 1

The guitarist John Sykes is not as well known as he deserves because of his contributions to rock history. He has also played an important role in both the two supergroups THIN LIZZY and Whitesnake. So it was thanks to the guitar sound and the corresponding guitar work that WHITESNAKE with 1987 final breakthrough came in the Olympus of rock bands. However, John Sykes left before the break the band and founded together with CARMINE APPICE (drums, ex-Vanilla Fudge, ex-MSG) and Tony Franklin (bass, among others, The Firm) the band BLUE MURDER. This is based on their self-titled debut album musically continues the way from 1987.

The songs are definitely Heavy Metal, as it should be with superb sound, heavy guitar walls, great melodies and the necessary hardness. That the compositions at any time know to convince, while almost goes without saying. The real surprise however is the excellent vocals of John Sykes, reminiscent phased a bit like White Snake's David Coverdale. Comparing to Whitesnake follow-up album to 1987 (SLIP OF THE TONGUE) must BLUE MURDER shy by no means, neither of the songs nor the guitar work (and which took on SLIP OF THE TONGUE none other than Steve Vai).

The debut was followed by another studio album Nothin 'But Trouble, which came up with a more modern sound, but unfortunately also not brought the desired breakthrough for the band. So BLUE MURDER wait like a hidden treasure still waiting to be discovered from as many treasure hunters in the far reaches of the Heavy Metal. The search is worthwhile in any case.
