From the album I like Sinners Prayers and Is not No Way really good grade are still worth listening to for my friend, and I'll Well well take care of you and that's it then already. The rest is average to grottig. Grade the title track, for example, I find indeed solid craftsmanship, but still just plain boring.
But already on my mini-selection is the major shortcoming of the album recognizable: it lacks the common thread. The whole thing is another one randomly assembled collection of bluesy songs without any relationship. I can not understand that some reviewers here all pieces equally excellent (it seems to me as more of a little nice speeches in the game to be).
In addition, as string NoGos Background and anyway often inappropriately big band sound. Nothing against big-band blues BB King or Paul Butterfield have something partially staged to perfection. Only Bonamassa is just not BBKing; he lacks the typical King, rousing Drive (where the whole orchestra started to swing). In addition, a fineness not really fit hood forming big band sound to multi-faceted vocals of Beth Hart. And strings are imho not a blues disc, but the symphony.
The sad thing is that the two performers actually quite good together can (and already often proved have). But this would have to be (hard etc., cool or groovy or soft) communicate in the production on a central theme and must make the interplay between the tube and Hart'schen Bonamassa driving guitar sound much more to the fore, above all.
So I can only say: What a pity! Without limiting the generality Hurra hype I had first listened to the album on Youtube and then safely brought only 2 og songs via download.
