The Silk Empress, Volume 2: Buddha Eyes (Paperback)

Customer Review

I struggled to get into the first volume, but the second half had managed to arouse my interest. I thought that the second volume would be a continuation of this second half, and that's what prompted me to read it. Well, it is not. I got bored as this is not permitted.
There was still material to achieve a high-quality roman ... and he missed! At no time the author has managed to make the captivating story. Even the discovery of cultures and lifestyles, even the exposed bits of history are not returned in interesting ways. Disappointing end to end.
Still a lot of sex scenes that add nothing to the story and are completely staggered and unnecessary, if not for padding and allow the person to vent.
It is certain that I will not read the third volume, and also certain that I will read over José Frèches. There are many good authors and good books waiting to be read, there is no way I lose my time reading the Frèches, so uninteresting for me.
I have also a little hard to understand those who are gloating; compared to what I've read, "The Silk Empress" is a poor historical novel. I invite readers to discover the Iain Pears, Amin Maalouf, George Bordonove, Noah Gordon, Carole Dagher, Ken Folett, JC Ruffin, and others ...; you will see what a historical novel of high quality.
Maybe the "Jade Disc" is better bill? But my disappointment with what this novel is such that I renounce to read this author.
In short, a novel that I recommend!
