Customer Review

Following Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Vanessa Carlton, Chantal Kreviazuk and Nerina Pallot is presenting us Sara Bareilles melodious and highly varied piano pop rock, which has it all. In each track of heart and soul in it!
The first single "Love Song" is in the States already a big hit and stands out very dominated by Hip Hop charting landscape. The song has a very original and at the same time profound text. The melody is also developing rapidly to a bona fide catchy. The song grooves from the outset with its driving piano intro, which eventually invade drums and guitar. And what's more Saras times more vulnerable and then again very confidently and strongly-sounding vocals.
Bareilles white in all 12 tracks use her voice sounds very versatile and sometimes a bit like Fiona Apple. In "Vegas" she sings initially very lascivious and gently, just the next moment top it a pinch of rock. The piece is in my opinion just as compelling as the first track, albeit much more leisurely and redeemed. Here, as in all the other tracks, the song structures alternate skillfully and remember in approaches to the last albums of Amos or Fiona Apple said. That may be because, among other things, that, for example, with drummer Matt Chamberlain, the same people were brought on board, the support already Amos and Apple successfully.
According to the latter sounds especially the next track "Bottle It Up" and "Come Round Soon", both of which switch between rhythm-heavy verses and melodic chorus. In "Come Round Soon" Sara surprised especially towards the end with her very strong organ. On "One sweet love" sounds Bareilles contrast greatly to Chantal Kreviazuk with her smoky vocals. With "Morningside" Bareilles presented to "Love Song" another very groovy and radio-friendly track that comes sassy and positive. Just great! In "Between the Lines" is then the first ballad. Beautifully introduced by the piano, Bareilles sings the first verse before running the drums and guitar. The song also was chasing me immediately a shiver down the spine. Like me does not happen very often! The song "Love on the Rocks" is very funky and therefore has a slow pace. The track could also come from Nikka Costa and Joss Stone. The chorus sounds wonderful summer. "City" is then the next slow number. She sits back with gentle piano and Sara's singing. It was not until the first chorus joins again Beat it - and once again thrilled the song with a lot of potential for shaker, walk down the back. Just great! "Many the Miles" is, however, a very soulful casual number with casual singing, which makes a gentle swaying. The 11th track "Fairytale" perhaps the funniest text of the album. Bareilles takes the fairy tale characters Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel on the grain, the notice until after the supposed "happy ending" as many strains of Prince Charming but could bring:

"The tall blonde lets out a cry of despair says, would have cut it myself if I knew men Could Climb hair. I'll have to find another tower somewhere and keep away from the windows."

With "Gravity" Sara closes the album with a first calm and thoughtful touch from (only the piano, some strings and her voice), then the increase in the central part to a short dramatic climax. The content is about to break out of a relationship, to which one is bound to like gravity.

Conclusion: Bareilles delivers with their debut a thoroughly good album that offers a lot of variety and does not require an outage. Her voice is great, the piano playing well and the lyrics are entirely in the style of singer-songwriter little stories to make you smile and think.
After Nerina Pallots "Fires", Amos' "American Doll Posse", Apple's "Extraordinary Machine" Kreviazuks "Ghost Stories" and Carlton's "Heroes and Thieves", the fan of this kind of music is another little jewel to always re-Listen !
