Now I'm one of the lucky who was able to get the new iPhone 6, 16GB, gray space on 19.09.2014- so directly on publication in the Apple Store. After one month "endurance test" I would like to share my experience with you.
Appearance and design:
The design of the new smartphone is based on the newer iPads and iPods. Everything is round again, as we know it from the 2G / 3G (s) models. The rounding at the edges flow smoothly into the glass. This has really high quality and elegant. I am pleased that after 4 years of sharp edges finally dominated ergonomics! The "antenna lines" are gray subtly in the model in space. Unfortunately, this will have the disadvantage that the protective film can not cover the whole glass, because it is rounded towards the sides (similar to the Galaxy S3).
The 4.7 "model is comfortable to hold and comes very easily to me. But what really stands out is that the iPhone 6 is very thin. The fact that the power button is now on the side is a little getting used to but with mobile phones, the are larger than 4.5 "securely attached. Is controversial and the outcrops of the camera lens. Optically I think that, when you see it live, for less problematic but "square" than expected. Only drawback of course is that the device now can no longer be stored flat on level surfaces. A sheath that compensates coming for me personally not in question, but there will certainly soon.
Power:
The performance is thanks to the new processor as always very great, but no real surprise. Newer models like the iPhone 5 or 5s were not really utilized under normal use with the operating system. Everything is running as usual liquid and with a great workflow. It's just fun to use the phone!
Display:
The new displays are completely honest - top notch! One has the feeling that there is no disc. The pixels (which you can not recognize thanks 326ppi), you can touch almost directly. All colors are beautiful, of course, and everything seems more "clear" as used by the previous models. By the larger display the brilliance comes even more to bear. I'm really excited!
Terms:
The most interesting of course is the question of how to beat the bigger displays in use. For me, even 4.7 "a little too big. I do not have small hands but anything over about 4.5" is no longer covered by one-hand operation. Of course I can do it all operate with a cell phone, but that to me this does not fall down the cell phone, or I cramp my hand, I highly doubt. Apple is trying to make one-handed operation by double-tapping the Home button (not pressed). By this gesture the depicted slides down on the screen and you can reach the upper part. In a pinch quite nice but if I have already installed a large display, I want to also use entirely. Maybe I'm getting used to it ...
Camera:
The camera shoots as expected, really great pictures. Unfortunately, the optical image stabilization is only the iPhone 6 plus-owners deprived. I personally like that Apple is not jumping on the megapixel train but remains at 8MP and it improves the picture and color quality. 8MP is sufficient resolution and saves expensive storage. Even the True Tone flash works as usual.
The Slow Motion function with up to 240 frames per second is impressive. That I now but everything in slow motion films, I can not imagine. Great gimmick that "shows what is possible."
Very nice is the new front camera. The component is optimized for FaceTime and clear - in times of Selfies will find the sure well received.
The camera should stay on the earth. I think it is inappropriate, a smartphone camera with a "real" (SLR) camera compare. For me, the two pairs of shoes. In the Camera Genre (Smartphone) but the iSight plays certainly in the top league.
iOS8:
The new operating system offers little that is new for the end user in the first instance. It strikes me as a bit of a facelift of iOS7. Here a little changed the color, there adds a small feature. Very nice are the Widgets for Notification Center.
More exciting is the openness that provides iOS8 developers. So I have, for example, the angetestet (Android very popular) keyboard "Swype" and those like very much! There are already several new keyboards. The individual case is of course a matter of taste. Potential that there will be many new, is definitely available.
Well-known apps like the photo app received a new look and can be (you may not believe it) now even more intuitive operation. The overall design concept is consistent and follows a red thread. I like it!
Connections, battery:
The compounds, either Wi-Fi or mobile network are used to quickly and sufficiently strong. NFC so far I could not test, because it is currently in Germany has no function. The voice quality is very good, but hardly better than that of the predecessor.
The battery appears after the first tests to keep longer of which previous models. In my Nutzcharakteristik good 1.5 days (evening 40-50%) are. Now you have to admit that something "more" is playing around in the first few days / weeks. Nevertheless: Ok, but there would still be able to grow anything Apple.
Price:
The price is unjustified. I am not one of the people who call for a price of 200, because "so many Android devices so much better". 700 but are too much. I am indeed accustomed of recent years, that the price is moving in this context but then saw the competition simply different. In times when there with top equipment (One Plus One, Xiaomi Mi4, Huawei Honor 6 etc.) and mass (64GB) are smartphones from memory 300, there is an iPhone with 16GB Memory untimely no more than twice the price demand.

Overall conclusion:
The iPhone 6 is a great phone with a superb display and highly sophisticated components. It is also one of the noblest of his series thanks to a lot of aluminum. The new sizes offering a new user experience but ask a little acclimatization.
Really something new that you could not already do with an iPhone 5s, you can not do with the new device as well. A few nice features but Apple has - which is not bad - as always not reinvented the wheel.
iOS8 breathes new life into the mobile operating system. Even if this is not linked exclusively to the iPhone 6, I've felt that that developers prefer the larger screen or use something more intense.
Room for improvement in any event when the battery power. I would have liked that the iPhone is a bit thicker and the camera would not stand out. Apple could fill the volume obtained with battery and so might allow two days juice. Therefore, a star deduction.
The price is overpriced compared to this year's competition for my taste. Too, I subtract a half star.
Overall rating: 3.5 stars
Because for me but outweigh the positive innovations, I would still bite back the bitter financial apple !!
