I have the Sony RX100M2 bought me in November 2013, and have done relatively little pictures to our holiday. On vacation we were in Cuba, on April 24 we arrived because the camera was just six months old. After exactly 1 week, the Speichkarte read not read, other memory cards were not successful. Back home I was informed about the Sony service that I should send the camera for service Herbert Geissler in Reutlingen which I did. After a few days I got an email with the words "we have for your device" "provided by the manufacturer DSCRX100M2 an application for credit. This is currently being tested by the manufacturer! Now a week later I got the camera back unrepaired. The camera claims to have suffered water damage followed by the warranty, it is an economic total loss! I am not a diver and have no underwater housing or the like. The camera has failed when we were in Trinidad in the mountains, it was perhaps a slightly higher humidity exists but something should tolerate a camera for 600, there was also this week in Cuba no downpour which has been exposed to the camera. My Samsung smartphone was the entire holiday as everywhere, so I could then at least still taking pictures and has suffered no water damage. I am completely disappointed that a 600 camera 1 week in a resort area with slightly higher humidity succumbs water damage. As I've heard that's a pretty common trick to ward off the guarantee. I'm just glad that I have not completed this extended warranty. A Sony warranty is good for nothing for the equipment you lift in their holiday. From Sony service I am totally disappointed. In the meantime, I've opened and disassembled the camera. In fact, it looks a little corrosion in some places. Mainly on small screws where 2 different metals meet. Whether this corrosion has something to do with the image error and failure of the camera I doubt it but for Sony it is enough the guarantee as water damage reject.
