We bought this antenna to complement with a Vodafone UMTS Stick K5005 (Huawei E398).
The sake of completeness: A second antenna (rod antenna) was also tested. This whip antenna but no improvement was achieved in our test case in conjunction with the K5005 Stick.
Product and Delivery
********************************
+ Shipping quickly
+ Product well packed, incl. Small manual
+ Product processing in order
+ Size of the antenna about 20x20cm. The antenna has on the underside two feet for unfolding so that the antenna can also be placed on the ground or on the table.
+ Delivery incl. A suction cup for mounting on a windowpane
+ Cable two meters long with two antenna ports (TS9) exactly fits the K5005 Stick.
Reception tests
********************************
Unfortunately, the reception was not really checked himself, several internet speed measurements were respectively (speedtest.net) performed to filter out to individual outliers).
We tested the UMTS (HSPA +) receiving, not LTE.
The first tests were sobering. The reception was the same with antenna, usually but slightly worse than no antenna.
The K5005 stick itself seems to offer a surprisingly good reception for the size. Our tests after the stick has incidentally the best reception oriented vertically upwards. The Internet speed was actually even better if the stick was plugged directly into the laptop, as opposed to using the wireless docking station (Vodafone R101; ie = UTF8 & qid = 1389297467 & sr = 1-4 & keywords = K5005)
Also the change of the two ports did not improve.
Tests were (addresses) carried out at three different sites.
Location A (100m Beeline to Sendemast):
Inside: No improvement detected by the antenna
Outside: Not tested
Location B (700m air line to the transmitter mast):
Exterior: No Improvement
Inside: In a certain direction (front direction antenna window placed at the bottom): improvement of approximately 4-5Mbit / s to about 7-8Mbit / s.
Location C (about 1500m Beeline to Sendemast):
The transmission tower remote home page: No Improvement
The transmission tower facing home page, mounting on window glass exterior: improvement of approximately 0,6-1Mbit / s to about 2-3Mbit / s
Summary
********************************
Even if the antenna reception deteriorated somewhat in most cases, the antenna seems to be at the correct position / orientation quite significantly improve the reception (just in areas with poor power supply of the receiver can be improved significantly). What the improve reception but ultimately really depends (how to find the right position so and so), I can not yet answer until today. Maybe you have to be trained for this broadcast technicians, or the reception depends on so many different factors and the local situation from that one here can not win general findings with a few tests ... For our colleagues from Site C, however, a complete success, he would be a decisive improved reception in a fast wireless coverage. :-)
Rating

In comparison to other tested rod antenna in connection with the K5005 Stick these X antenna was clearly better. But this may also be because the K5005 Stick (has two antenna connectors) two antennas needed to improve reception. This was not the case with the single rod antenna. The X-reviewed here antenna has integrated two antennas and has two connection cables. A difference in the exchange of the two connection cables, we could not find the way.
The antenna has shown that it can significantly improve the reception. Since this is only in really very few positions / orientations ("windfall") was the case, and because we have missed more information on the ideal line-up in the pattern, awarded 4 stars for this antenna.
