The comparison (550D / 60D):
1 Body for EOS 1000D noticed: Even as the first time I've held in my hand the 550d, to me the almost 1. Of course the controls are different, but the housing size and weight are nearly identical. That's unless so good, because I have used in the 1000D a battery grip, which allowed me that I could hold the camera more comfortable to hold. This is probably due to my relatively large hands. In the 60d of a handle, on the right side is clearly larger and grip for me. Here I need also no battery grip.
With regard to the operation, I can only say ...... superb. All controls are easily accessible and almost all functions with his right hand to operate (550D & 60D). The display is almost huge (hello ... I had ne 1000d). The presentation of the menu items, or even the images to control is crystal clear and easy to read even from a side perspective.
What I particularly like is the proximity sensor in countries 550d of the display turns off when you approach the viewfinder. This one looks unfortunately in vain 60d (??). He's especially good if there is no glare in the darker through the viewfinder by the display. Compared to 1000d (Res Shooting RAW + JPG max.) Is the 550d considerably faster in terms of data processing, but I noticed compared to the 60D, that it is here but more slowly and the camera then so 4-5 seconds a Break inlaying was d can not be determined at the 60. What that may always be, it is definitely ugly. With respect to the pivot displays in the 60d I can only say .... tip ....... but why only now?
On the one hand, you can fold the display and has achieved a 100% protection, on the other hand for the Live View function much described it is of course a good thing. The fact that the proximity sensor is missing for me is not quite understandable, but I'll help me with it, I swing by the display to one side and so can not be blinded. In addition, then are not always the "nose imprints" on the display glass ;-)
Of course I have also compared the sharpness between 3 bodysuits. Obvious is of course the megapixel projection for 1000d. 10.1 to 18 megapixels. Here is very clear to see the better image at 100% image on the monitor. The focus can not be much better described also in the 550d and 60d in as. Compared to the 550D, the 60D ja 9 cross-type sensors which offers her a head start in focusing (accuracy). In terms Fokusiergeschindigkeit the two new take but nothing. Here I was also quite satisfied with the 1000D.
In the 60d the mode dial is mounted on the left side of body. This is at first glance a little getting used to (the 1000D and 550D have it on the right side) but that is not as unfavorable as there have already described my Vorbewerter. But what is new is the lock function. So you can only adjust the mode dial when you simultaneously press the release button in the center. Admittedly, in the first operations has me a little annoyed or irritated, but that's all a matter of habit. This is probably a function that has been requested by some photographers. And to me it's already happened in my 1000 that I accidentally moved the wheel while carrying the camera and did not notice it immediately. Meanwhile, I got used to it and do not find it as bad as some described.
The additional display of 60d on the right side is super. Here the Grundeinstellfunktionen are easy to read even if the monitor is collapsed. Also I find the four keys for direct selection of functions AF, Drive, ISO and exposure metering modes only beneficial. Fast is unable to access the setup of the camera is. In darkness, the small screen is even illuminated!
What is, however, in terms of "quick service" on the 60d of the hammer, is the so-called. Quick Control Dial and Multi-controller on the back panel. So you can almost only with your thumb all the setting, what is there to adjust. For example, over the known Main Dial (behind the trigger with your index finger), the exposure time and the Quick Control Dial to adjust (to the back of the thumb), the aperture values. The spread for the bracketing is super fast selectable here. That's really good.
Not so nice in my opinion, is the positioning of the delete key at the 60d succeeded. This is to the left of the viewfinder on the display. If you just shot the image again will (quickly) to delete, you have to act here only with his left hand. This is a little awkward. But maybe you want to exclude as accidental actuation (?).
This represents for me but not NO-GO is.
What I find not so nice at the 60er is that the preview button to the right side on Bajonetsockel has slipped for the lens. Since you found the solution a bit happier on the left side in the 550d and 1000d. Maybe I'm getting used to it yet ......
The video features I have indeed system sold, are for me but absolutely unimportant. To this end, I can not make any statement. Personally, I think anyway to want to create a panacea for nonsense with all his might. From my side, it is desirable that you look at the development of photo cameras focused on the photo function and does not try to go with the flow ......'s just a matter of opinion ?!
