Though advertising and public relations use the media to create awareness or to influence markets; there are some differences between advertising and public relations. They are , for building credibility public relations are better than advertising and in a short form we can say that, the advertisement sells but the public relations tells.
The other main differences between the advertising and public relations include; advertising reaches its audience through media for which amount is paid by advertiser. PR communications are not openly paid by sponsors. Advertising can be controlled to ensure its reach and impact. But PR communications are not so easily quantifiable i.e., cannot be controlled.
