Customer Review

The 180 gram vinyl in gatefold sleeve comes and sounds very good. The plate is pressed and super running absolutely flat.
It is the debut album after he has released some 10 inches. His laurels earned James Bay through intense live playing, among others, as the opening act of the Stones.
It has become a very nice singer / songwriter album where the guitar sounds and some Pianosprenkler dominate the songs. It is a mix of forward going rock songs (Collide, Best fake smile), midtempo songs and ballads. I like James Bay best in the slower pieces, because his voice is good effect, he can show a lot of emotion. Here he builds the songs slowly, invites one and takes the listener on a journey.
The already known from radio and TV song "Hold Back the River" is one of the highlights of the album, but also songs like the very nice "Let it go" and the ballad "Scars" fall qualitatively from, but underscore the great talent James Bay. He plays a very nice guitar and is certainly one of the greatest talents of this genre.
I hope that we get in the future a lot of James Bay to hear, I think he has a great future ahead of him and trust him to a very big album. This is a good debut that sounds not so self-contained, but some great songs shows.
