In times of increasingly powerful smartphones to ever raises the question of whether there are any at all a market for small compact cameras. I would answer this question with a resounding "yes", because - especially when it comes to zoom and low-light conditions - is many smartphone cameras but soon the air out. A reasonable alternative that, in the case as just described takes away little space, is a good and small compact camera. Indisputable: The Nikon S 3600 does not perform miracles. The jack of all trades, there is not even in the camera segment. In order to make professional recordings in difficult conditions, it also needs to be an appropriate equipment.
The Nikon has 20 megapixels and a powerful eight-fold optical zoom. Whether it would have necessarily used with this camera such pixel density, in my opinion is debatable, but often shows that this need not necessarily be an advantage. With simple lighting conditions, such as the day, the photos are then also very appealing. Clear and bright colors are the good result. For night scenes, however, sets about the expected noise, so the Nikon gets pointed to their expected limits. Even with faster movements the camera has difficulty. Overall, I think that a good performance for a reasonable price is obtained with this model.
In addition, filming also possible in 720p. Of course, numerous scene modes are available or letting the automatic scene selection work for you. The images can then be processed even with several creative filters. Assuming that this camera is primarily aimed at the casual photographer who simply wants to press the shutter button, I have undergone particularly the automatic test a closer and am of the opinion that this works quite reliably. Overall, you get with the Nikon S 3600 a good and compact everyday companion, who represents ordinary results. However, miracles should not be expected. As I do this then do not have, I rate the Nikon 4 out of 5 stars.
