On the one hand, the device should reproductions Internet radio streams and to play on the other my music collection on my NSLU2 Media Server.
In addition, the device should look good, have an equalizer function and be relatively easy to use and all at a price significantly lower than 200EUR.
In the short list came to me the Logitech Squeezebox Classic, and the Philips Streamium NP2500.
Ultimately, I chose the following reasons for the NP2500:
1) wide range of Internet radio streams,
2.) easy to use (yes if there would be even greater by the relatively large color display, it might be even easier) and with the clear remote control
3.) relatively flexible in terms of the used Media Server - only requirement: must stream in UPnP format. Therefore, Philips is the Twonky Media Server with.
Note: Those like me who runs a media server based on Linux - (NSLU2) - has the ability to support the NSLU2 side the corresponding Twonky Media Server herunterzulanden and in a few minutes to install. After entering the Twonky software key the Twonky Media Server is functioning properly. The Twonky Media Server even provides the ability to stream photos, so that one can be able to play a slideshow.
4) several equalizer settings
5.) display album art, and logo of Internet Radio Streams
6) automatic software updates (very important to obtain additional functions in the future)
good sound quality
In all of this to me also something negative lacks a:
Unlike my SoundBridge the NP2500 displays no title at Internet radio streams. I just hope that this will be implemented in the future as part of a software update because it is a nice way to look up by whom the beautiful song.
All in all, a clear Kauftip.
