City lights - Part 2 (old fans - better stay away!)

So that was the impression of the tracks, as I have felt from the new CD Unholy "trailblazer". Unfortunately I can not recommend this CD. With the new CD: "climbers" of Unholy is again continued the old tragedy of "City Lights" (and even worse!): Flatly shallow songs instead of hard rhythms: love, sky, lights, city, sunshine, etc .. . - instead of profound contemplative texts (partly in metaphors) that touch one and captivate. This is no longer Unholy how the band was once and I have come to love. What has become of Unholy? I think it is on commerce so that the poetry in his lyrics whistle finally went since "city lights".

The earlier works were almost always a highlight, the newer stuff is usually only shallow schmaltz-pop-pop. None of his last songs since "city lights" I liked even begin until today (Eisenmann, Tierra del Fuego and Herzwerk I am doing now even a small exception) and I do not think the count when he suggests the population that you should stop when it is most beautiful. Then yes, millions would have other musicians / artists indeed all stop when it is at its best. Such nonsense I've never heard of! Beloved Family or not. And he had not always said that music is the most important thing in life for him? Other music artists or bands also tour throughout their lives, are always on the road and take the way on plates! So just the music business. That you know before.

And yet one must make money to live, or was it just about having someday safe hands from the very beginning? I do not think that it was in the early days to the filthy lucre, but only good songs, because in his old songs you can feel that the lyrics really come from the heart. I think it has become clear the Graf many years ago that he turns the gothic scene's back, and he gets a foot in the commercial scene; because of, as in an interview: "I no longer painted my nails, because it was me someday too stupid to have to do it every morning over and over again." Or his next Statemant: "The lights on stage were so bright, it opened my eyes hurt, so I eventually contact lenses no longer wanted to wear." What's that lying for a setting? Chris Pohl Blutengel or Alexander Wesselsky of icebreaker like in these records probably have shaken his head. The Count knew then for sure that he wanted to get out of the gothic scene.

... Where the honesty and the sincerity remains his old fans opposite ("Look at my face!")? Can one not say that you are musically quiet and wants to go other ways? I think that most people would have understood and more or less accepted. But no, you can not. And why not? Because then his old fans would have made no blind purchases at the "city lights", which brings sending you money. That's why everything in the hidden through the back door. And the new pop / pop fan base had only just time to build. But there seem to be not enough grandmas and moms with strollers been who bought the CDs and Helene Fischer would like him not to invite each time to their show. Well, now they are almost all gone, the good old faithful fans who have always liked to buy his CDs and went to his concerts and it also did not come back. City Lights was a radical change in style, the already indicated, where the future of music is - an ice cold calculus.

The desperate attempt to win the CD "City Lights" new fans and to appease old fans with three heavy songs (Eisenmann, Tierra del Fuego and Herzwerk), should be thoroughly gone wrong, because the figures speak for themselves. According to Wikipedia, the "Grosse Freiheit" 2 million the city lights but selling times, not even half, nähmlich 870,000 times. And if we assume that there was worldwide about 200 000. Blind purchases (with disgruntled fans), there would be even less, but the number is now speculation. Since one has scared away the old fans and the new Fanblase grows not as good as hoped, it just makes a radical break - a final CD ("trailblazer"), a last tour, and then Bye !, because it anyway no longer makes sense, because 2 million CD sales you never get clean again anyway.

And so simple you drive the new rail further, just takes a little more money with the "climbers" and that's it. At least I feel that way. I got the CD heard by acquaintances (but not bought luckily) and have to say that "climbers" with the Minimale diepte is what Unholy ever produced. None of the songs touched me, everything was so extremely corny, banal and un-poetic; It all felt somehow wrong - and especially as opposed to the songs they have produced previously. Unholy Unholy is no longer a long time. The songs of the new CD "trailblazer" according to judgments would the Count replace the black suit against a white suit and the band's name change from Unholy in Holy (perhaps better: Hypocritical) ... which would then at least have a Quantum dignity and decency.

Back then it was a nice time with Unholy great songs like: On the moon, Feuerengel, say yes! and Phoenix have me fastziniert earlier, but now I am of Unholy abgewand, because I feel as Alt - betrayed Gothic fan of Unheilig latest at ECS or when Helene Fischer show. In the "climbers" I was again curious, but my worst suspicions have once again confirmed. CDs by Unholy I have now all sold, but still I hear bands like icebreaker, And One and Blutengel (there is also here at Amazon!). In my eyes, the Count has with his new style gepockert high and lost the loyalty of its important old fans ... lost actually the most important thing in the music business (apart from his sincerity times). Some of the new Unholy Schlager / pop fans will probably me verbally kreutzigen, but that does not matter because I finally said what I was a long time on the soul and I think that I do not stand there with that view alone.

Conclusion, Unholy: "climbers" (2014):

Who "city lights" has fallen, which is also certainly: "climbers" fallen, but who belongs to the old fans and the harder pieces with the poetic meaningful lyrics like that should URGENT !!!!!!! keep his hands off of this CD! Because this CD is still SCHNULZIGER as city lights. Listen to "trailblazer" at least once before you buy, so your money is not upset throw in the bin.
