Pentax is known as a camera manufacturer and is less known as Nikon or Olympus whose binoculars are selling well in bigger numbers than binoculars manufacturer. This, however, kept me far away from me to purchase these binoculars. I wanted a handy and inexpensive binoculars that cost less than 300 euros (I paid less than 200 euros) and still can compete in the optical quality even with twice as expensive glasses. Now there are many similar products in 8x 20 or 10 x 30 by many manufacturers. The tenfold magnification I have not taken on the short list because many reports on the network that you have a very steady hand needs in order to be able to work properly. The 9-fold magnification turns out to be a good compromise between the 8-fold and 10-fold variation. And the magnification falls especially to the 8-fold design very clearly, and yet the binoculars is still very good in the hand. The quality and processing makes a good impression even if we know that the housing is made of plastic and it is made in China. In terms of contrast and color fidelity can also convince I have not the possibility to compare it for example with the Nikon HG 8x20 about the euro costs 150 more this model. As the twilight performance is also good (15,87), the Pentax also be used for viewing the night sky. However, it is never a real binoculars such as to replace a 10x42 is built for astronomy and is built on a sturdy tripod. But for my purposes is the DCF LV is a compelling proposition with very good optical performance and a very pleasant handling that can be taken anywhere without that baggage is loaded noticeably.
