Comparing several Dictionary English - German
Although I have not downloaded and therefore no experiences with him this dictionary. But because you have to assign star, I behave neutral and forgiving 3 stars. As I know from personal experience how difficult is the searching out an appropriate dictionary, I would like to express that is yet. I think my Kindle dictionary experiences to other seekers might be useful.
The pre-installed on my Kindle dictionaries (Oxford Dictionary of English and The New Oxford American Dictionary) I had downloaded my favorite PONS Professional Dictionary English-German / German-English with around 390,000 keywords and phrases because I know from experience with several paper dictionaries, that are owned by Pons at the best. For that I would have even paid the price of the paper edition.
That's why I initially took the new dictionary of David Fischer, that's not bad, but useless for me because it has no phonetics and pronunciation surprises you often experience in English.
Then I discovered by chance SlovoEd Deluxe English-German dictionary (was not so easy to find) in kindle, was told by the that it anlehne to Pons. Then I also bought this (6.99). Finally, suddenly surprising even the PONS Advanced German appeared -> English Dictionary on for 9.99. Because of my excellent experience with the Pons Großwörterbuch I added it to my dictionary collection also to.
Now my Kindle experience: Slovoed Pons and seem to be pretty much the same, I could only randomly, but quite often, check course. So probably would the cheaper dictionary suffice. The vocabulary of both is in view of the fact that it is not the Großwörterbuch is amazing. In particular, the complete definition to the basic word are supplied numerous compound words in use, as well as idioms and some slang also.
The long and short of it: With Pons or Slovoed I find at least 95% of my unknown words (about the failure of all the dictionaries in indents was already reported by many reviewers). I take the Oxford Dictionary as additional emergency assistance, I get even at least 98%.
I can therefore only advise anyone interested to buy or Slovoed Pons. By Sloevod it's even basic budget investment.
Another tip: I have, for example, to Agatha Christie's The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, the German version downloaded as an audio book (a German Kindle version there is not). In addition, because I'm interested in French and Spanish - I treated myself nor the corresponding kindle versions in these languages ​​(Le meurtre de RA and El asesinato de RA) together with the ensprechenden dictionaries of Pons. Even in the most stubborn cases you get then at least in spirit, the meaning of a difficult passage out, if you can search out the passages in the other books. The prerequisite is of course that you have downloaded mutually corresponding versions of the books, so for example, all unabridged or similar .. But it works mostly only with literature classics, because you often only find this in several languages. But the prices are then but in older classics law Civil: The Murder 5.75, Le meurtre 5.49, El asesinato even only 2.38.
