I use the hub to a Samsung S4 Active and a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. Can thus directly files (eg photos) secure from an SD memory card to a, in FAT 32 formatted USB flash drive or vice versa. Also two USB sticks can be infected for a direct transfer data. Hard drives or other devices are not operated by me at this hub. For memory cards and USB flash drives, the external power supply is not necessary.
