There is not much to the Supplementary Sub himself to say to the various positive reviews: Sonos typically very good processing, perfectly packed and added in a few minutes on the existing Sonos system. His form raises the sub clear of almost all other available on the market (albeit limited Sonos-compatible (-> Connect Amp has a Sub-Out)) subwoofers from - in short, it looks quite nice from (although certainly more of a masculine assessment is ;-).
Sonically the sub does what he should. It makes for considerably more depth in the music playback and relieved the two Play 3. The strong improvement in sound often described in the two play 3 but I could hear frankly not really. In volume terms, the Sub is also able to churn a room (with me about 20m2), when it so adjusts. Overall, the sub sounds good, but no better or worse than other subs in the price league in my opinion. Against the> 1000 Sub in my living room and music room he has but frankly no chance with respect. Precision and speed of the low frequency response. But the comparison is not entirely fair.
Finally, I have the sub nevertheless sold after 3 days again - why? Well, at least in my apartment the sub has constantly hummed softly to himself. Quiet, yet so loud that I heard it every time now when I came into the room. This is unacceptable in my view - not for about 650. I have in my PC rooms still a cheap sub, the buzzing and softly when it is turned on, and still is not playing music. It is probably not installed the best power supply, which was fine for the price. From the Sonos Sub but would expect Besser. Tentatively, I have the Sonos Sub hanged in another room to the power grid, but brought no improvement. Maybe I have a very good ear, but I did not bother the grunts.
The Sonos Sub and the two play 3 were then completely replaced at the end by a Sonos Connect Amp, a Canton Sub 600 and two white bookshelf speakers. The Canton Sub costs here at Amazon 299 and is completely silent - "buzzing nix". In volume terms, it can take it easy with the Sonos Sub.
The Sonos Sub is a good product and just for Playbar also a good addition to the necessary depth in film sound. Me but he has not convinced on those grounds. The described alternative configuration sounds just as good at the end was even cheaper than the two Play 3 and the Sonos Sub and the weningen extra cables I can live well.
