How big was the disappointment when I recently heard the album for the first time. Not only do the great songs "Sexuality" and "Whipping My Hair" are not on the album - it also has little in common with its predecessor and the Song are less catchy. It took more than ten passages until I've found on the album a big favor! "Mad House" is a great intro, the ideal to the real gritty album (the cover it indicated already at) matches. Then follows the same song that could be the big hit of the album: "Wait Your Turn" is one of the few songs on the album, which go immediately and unconditionally into the ear and linger persistently there. A great track, which is provided with a beautiful, almost anthemic chorus. With "Hard" comes the next hit, which this time goes more towards hip hop. Again, it does not take long until you love the song. "Stupid In Love" is a typical written by NeYo Rihanna ballad, the "Hate That I Love You" by a mile, "Take A Bow" and "Unfaithful" suggests at least narrowly. Then my next Favourit: the thumping "Rockstar 101", which, at least musically seen, would have done well to Beyonce's "Sasha Fierce". But also on "Rated R" is the song a great component. To "Russian Roulette" must not lose many words you. An ingenious ballad, but still not the best. "Fire Bomb" is the most rocking song on the album and look old can "Shut Up And Drive". "Rude Boy" is the only song that belongs clearly to the dance genre, but it is not a club-masher like "Do not Stop The Music" and "Disturbia". "Photographs" sounds like the best song of the current Black Eyed Peas album, Rihanna actually hear the chorus of a bit like Fergie. "G4L" is the song of the album and gewöhnungsbedürftigste again very bleak. "Te Amo" could grow fond in June on Youtube. A memorable catchy ditties. And then: the two outstanding ballads of the album! Especially the written by Justin Timberlake song "Cold Case Love" (the just a single MUST be) has done to me insane. Usually I endure a game length of more than 6 minutes not, but here you do not notice the song at this length. And Rihanna sings just fantastic, exactly as in the great final song "The Last Song", which really is unfortunately the last song of the best album of the year.
I'm still a little skeptical that Rihanna with "Rated R" can repeat the enormous success of "GGGB" because they now again more goes towards R & B and hip-hop and not quite so much the direction of Pop.
In the booklet it shows unusually permissive, lyrics are as always absent. One should resort to the uncensored version of the album, because the grades in the "Clean" version are very annoying.
