This model from Canon is not one of the "mega flat" that fit into a shirt pocket. She seems at first glance a little Globig and is with 2 NiMH batteries and then just over 300 grams and not a super-lightweight. The case is processed properly, but requires a careful handling if you want to have something like this a long time (not for Grobmotoriker).
I have a second camera for my climbing sought that nonetheless makes good pictures and that was not easy! Many cameras with good tests (no idea how that are partly come about) I have given back very disappointed. The last mega-flop was the Nikon S8000 that not nearly came up to the image quality of the SX130IS.
The SX130IS offers easy Handhabbung, very good menu, custom settings (aperture and shutter speed), practical shooting modes and, moreover, the possibility of recording movies in HD-quality (but I was not really important).
Through my work with the semi-professional Olympus E-3 I'm obviously spoiled, but what the little Canon does, all honor is worth. Great image quality over the entire image area (no artifacts or blurred border areas) and natural colors make the camera an ideal companion as a second unit or a beginner's camera with development opportunities - it is great fun to photograph it.
Whether close-up with 5 cm distance from the subject or shooting with the very good optical zoom - all achieved almost foolproof and in very good quality. Even when shooting indoors without flash, the camera is a good figure. The CCD sensor provides a homogeneous illumination without highlights and shadows over or underexpose.
The optical viewfinder is missing, of course, a little - especially when the display in bright sunlight reflects strongly. An anti-reflective film helps because more but.
When using battery batteries, you should use a minimum power of 2400mAh - more is better, then you can easily make 300 shots with one set of batteries. Power consumption for longer video recordings I have not yet tested.
My conclusion: A great camera at a great price / performance ratio! Absolute recommendation !!!
