******** Delivery and technical details *************

Are supplied with the reader a stylus and a USB cable for the PC. About the cable, the books can be downloaded to the Reader. The Reader is actually charged only on the PC, who does not Moeche, but can get expensive adapter for the power outlet. Since the battery anyway holds a long time, I do not think it necessary. I had the Reader so far only once fully charged at the start and have already read some books. But it will be over soon, recharge the Reader. The battery life of one month, indicating Sony, that's true in some.

The eBook reader is quite small and fits comfortably in your hand. He is almost as thin as a pencil and weighs 168 grams with virtually nothing.

The PRS-T1 has an integrated memory of 2 GB, which is enough for about 1200 books. If someone is not sufficient, but the memory can also be expanded via a microSD card. Such a map is to acquire reasonably priced.

The Reader can be the way just to hear audio books or music - you have to infect only one pair of headphones, because speakers are not built into the device. But beware: There are no headphones included!

To get from the very beginning in the reading experience two books and the operating instructions on the Reader are preloaded. The latter way, I have never needed, because the Sony Reader PRS-T1 can be explained entirely by itself. I've never had problems with it. I really wonder what probably so it says in the 182 pages, but when everything is so simple.

The PRS-T1 is as already mentioned wireless capability and man can surf the reader even on the Internet. However, this is not fun and I would not recommend. Practically, only something that is possible but not yet in Germany: The load eBooks from the Reader to the Reader. When Sony opened the eBook Store also for Germany. is not yet clear.

******** Loading eBooks to the Reader *********
The Sony Reader PRS-T1 supports (almost) all popular formats for eBooks, especially .epub also *, standard format for ebooks. The load-selling books on the Reader is very easy and really does not need a manual.

Bundled software for the PC is not even necessary, because you can also just download the ebook directly to the 'Removable Disk'. Solely must necessarily install one software (or alternatively Adobe Digital Editions), to release the DRM-protected files.

Especially handy, I find that you can also upload PDFs easily on the Reader and then read there. So it has become much more convenient to read excerpts because I no longer have to do on the PC. PDF files are not visually represented as beautiful as EPUBs. But even that is not much of a problem, because who wants the PDF file using the freeware Calibre can convert an EPUB file that is then displayed nice. One small problem I have here still found: head / footers are simply englobed in the body text, as you can see in the picture on the right. The page numbers of Midnight Sun are thus located in the middle of text. But I believe ever to have read somewhere that there is a function for it in Calibre. Since I have to but more specifically deal with it.

Only one big problem I have with my readers, but since Sony can not help it: The cover of the books are included in most books I've bought so far, not in the file. In itself that is not a big problem, but it looks in the menu simply unsightly. Again Calibre creates but remedy, because subsequently add a cover is not a problem. So at least the overview looks beautiful.
In sleep mode, however, the title page as it is published by the publishing house is maintained. To resolve this issue, you would have still epub convert EPUB, which is not with DRM-protected files but possible. Pity!

********** Reading with the Sony Reader ************
Reading with the Sony Reader PRS-T1 is very convenient and very practical, for many reasons.

On the one hand you can finally comfortable, one-handed reading, without having to hold any pages. Secondly, the reader is very easy, so a long time after holding the 'book' not to hurt your hands. Furthermore, the reader, the reader can also adapt perfectly to his wishes, because almost everything is adjustable.

Depending on your preferences you can set a font with / without serifs, and adjust the font size. This is easy using the menu. The individual files are, with respect to its font size, slightly different, but so far I could always find the right size for me.

In addition, you can be very convenient to jump from side to side, just above the page navigation, which is also located in the menu. I find it especially great that I finally did so at once without books contents a directory :) Because I look at very often, how long is a chapter before I read it. Especially when I'm already tired in the evening!

A funny thing: The number of pages of the books, which is given below is true, rarely with the hardcover edition (or other) agreement. However, the different font size is it not guilt. Why do I suddenly more than 100 pages should have less in the books, my date is still a mystery. But in order to live, of course;)

For readers who want to remember certain passages like or add a comment, there is also very convenient functions. One can easily highlight words and sentences, and add to these notes. The latter is either by touch keypad or handwritten with the stylus. The notes are later all very clearly retrievable. I have this function but never used, because I would rather write down my notes handwritten after reading - during which time it would be just too much to distract from the action.

By means of the marking can also easily make a word search in the dictionary. This is particularly useful in English books, if you do not know the vocabulary straight. Sony has already installed some bilingual, but also monolingual dictionaries from which you can adjust in advance, which you want to use. Personally, I find this dictionary function eerily practical. When I used to read an English book, and one word did not know, I just read and hoped to understand the context requires it. Today I mark the word easy with your finger (or the stylus that I've personally but never used!) And know what it means in German. This allows much more comfortable reading in English!

Unfortunately, there is a huge flaw in my Sony Reader: The surface shines forward and is not as nice as the matte back. This is also a source of light behind me and the reader is reflected, which is quite distracting me from reading. I read about it prior to purchase and thought that it would probably not bother myself so, because I already have to keep the angle Reader for it. Wrong! Thankfully, there are also a very practical purpose, if not entirely favorable solution: mat skins.

*********** *********** CONCLUSION
The Sony Reader is great and I can not give him. I have already read some books in order, and will do so in the future. At the moment I think it is sometimes a shame if I have to resort back to a 'real' book, because I also still want to read.

It is light, easy to handle, can be taken anywhere and is just practical. I would recommend it definitely!
