The advertisement sounds tempting: Automatic shutdown of standby devices at no extra-to-use switch. That seems very responsive, because if I shut down my computer, I forget regularly, then shut off the power strip on the switch.

So: The Ansmann Energy saving socket ordered, briefly consulted the very clear guidance and after a few minutes I could be stated: It works. The "learning" of the individual standby consumption was easy to do and the shutdown of the equipment works reliably. I have incidentally not measure: I trust currently the manufacturer's statements that these can actually completely separates the device from the mains (after all, you can hear a distinct "click" of an internal switch when switching off).

Very handy is that the red button indicates by flashing when the device detects the standby voltage and turns off soon. By about 1.5 meter long lead, you can place this button very good.

A useful side effect: can While "normal" switch also accidentally off times unintentionally (who has not yet happened to the computer at the power strip with a switch?), Is not possible with the Ansmann-box: The button is used solely to turn, accidental operation during operation has no effect.

I have calculated that I currently pay about 10 euros per year just for the standby power consumption of your computer, monitor and speakers. The acquisition of this box is worth it after not even a half years for me.
