Depressing, unimaginative and boring

I bought the presented collection recently and read into "Game of Thrones". However, I found the story from the beginning, very dark and little exciting. 'Well, maybe it is better yes', I thought. Then ran yesterday "Game of Thrones" by chance in the German TV (RTL 2). Many came to me from the book very familiar, so I suppose the film initially quite close to the original story holds (which is also confirmed by the corresponding Wiki article). I must have seen the first two episodes on RTL 2 (the first four were well aired as a movie), but unfortunately there was no better: Various figures experience a blow after the next, an injustice to the other; everything remains very bleak and desolate. Even Sean Bean and Jason Momoa, which I think is really great actor, the film version could not save; for the (original) story is simply too boring and unimaginative knit. The whole thing has to do with fantasy and little (if I can tell just by the first 40 pages of the novel and the first two episodes of the series kanpp) in my opinion; it is more a medieval epic (without references to real history precisely) with a dash of sex and violence. If I, for example, with "Lord of the Rings" by Tolkien see the books / series, to me the real originality Fantasy missing. The first two episodes could not give me what the characters actually fight (such as Tolkien's Shire). The gloomy country Winterfell seems to me that from the outset as an (ice) hell. But it also comes hardly a creepy atmosphere, many acts just floored, brutal and depressing. I was also able to really identify with any of the figures that it is also perhaps too many characters are introduced parallel me. The language of the first novel acts often quite elegant, but that does not console over the depressing action of time. My recommendation when it comes to books and the series, so is: Stay away!
