I have sought a solution for my iPad with SmartCase which stupidly only headphone plug permits that are really designed slim. But My Studio Headphones has a combination connector, which also operate at 6.3 inch jacks allow (by means of a screw-on adapter). Through the thread of the 3.5-inch plug my earphone is unfortunately too thick for the recess in the iPad Smart Case. This intermediate cable has now solved my problem. It's really well made and fits well visually to the other very delicate Apple cables.
