** Hardware / Design **
+ Super Size (even fits in the back pocket of jeans)
+ The tablet has the same design as the GS5 in the wound plaster look. Personally, I like good, and I find it very convenient to keep. Many still upset about the cheap plastic, but it bothers me a bit. Although is just plastic, but well made and therefore feels anything but cheap to.
+ Very thin (like 5 stacked credit cards)! and ultra-light (weighs less than the iPad mini).
+ Is thus very comfortable to hold, even if you hold in your hands the tablet a long time (hours)
+ 16GB Memory are tight because approximately 4GB already occupied by the software
+ Tablet but through MicroSD (up to 128GB) expandable.
However + apps can be installed only on the tablet memory (16GB) itself. In other words, although you can move photos, music, movies, etc. to a microSD card, which is not possible with apps and accordingly to respect (for example if you want to install offline Navigation Apps -> need a lot of space)
+ The small roundabout behind the tablet allow the attachment of various (Samsung) cases. The principle itself is very well done and the MMN grip the protective sleeve is significantly better than the iPad for example, when the magnetic adhesion of the case. However, I found the protective sheath (Samsung Book Cover) surprisingly difficult to install, and almost impossible to remove it again. That may well be positive, if you never want to take off the cover, but in need of improvement for me.
** Display: the most important thing at each tablet **
+ An incredibly sharp, high-contrast, and simply amazing Super AMOLED display. As a Retina Display of the iPad is a crap. But what does that mean for the average consumer?
+ In contrast to normal AMOLED display, here is the surface that touches registered, integrated into the screen, and not mounted as in previous generations on the screen. A space-saver that allows Samsung to manufacture such a thin tablet.
+ In addition, a Super AMOLED display so reflects 80% less light (according to Samsung). This I can only confirm, as well as in direct sunlight the display is surprisingly easy to read.
+ Even very low brightness adjustable (allows even in the dark pleasant reading and other operating)
+ General of the display possible (Adaptive Display, AMOLED cinema, AMOLED photo, Basic) settings. Thus, you can adjust the screen to his taste. I like! I used mostly the Adaptive Display mode.
+ Adaptive Display: Display automatically adjusts to the specific application (for example, sharpness and contrast to be adjusted, depending on whether you look at a film or an ebook reading). This is not really evident in the use, but is believed to play an important role in the background, because the display is just awesome!
** Software: **
+ Come to this point preinstalled with Android 4.4.2
+ Thanks Exynos 5 Octa processor and 3GB of RAM very strong performance!
+ Games, multi-tasking, etc. are not a problem, and nothing seems the Tab in its knees
+ Unfortunately, Google Chrome a little slow but is firstly not the only browser, and can be very likely solved by a software update.
+ TouchWiz interface as - this is not to say much, after all, everyone must decide for themselves. TouchWiz is making steady progress, and the new look with Magazine UX like much. What bothers me is that MMN Samsung tries to integrate as many software features as possible, instead of focusing on the essentials. Thus, there is instead a couple of really useful applications / Features Many who are not mature (eg the new SideSync, RemotePC)
+ Micro-stuttering do not come often, but for my taste still too frequent.
+ Magazine UX is a nice application to always stay up to date (News, Facebook, RSS), but I will continue to use Flipboard, because I find it more reliable
I would like to highlight + positive to the software, however, two things:
+ The Children mode. Thus one can give to his children play safely tablet. Really well done!
+ Multi-Window: Unlike the iPad, you can here, as Samsung already announced open two Apps simultaneously. Although all applications is not possible, I think it is the right thing, even to take advantage of the larger display!
** Fingerprint scanner: **
+ Works well if you concentrate. Is also more reliable than the fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy S5. Why, I do not know. However, when compared for example to TouchID technology of iPhone 5s rather cumbersome because you just can not put your finger on it, it must draw special / glide over the sensor. I find this cumbersome, and favors the non-recognition of the fingerprint.
+ The optional PayPal integration, I think it's great. That is, one has the possibility to use instead of the password, as the fingerprint detection. Very convenient.
** Stereo Speakers: **
+ Total 2 available. One is located at the top and the other at the bottom. Playing games or watching movies, I find the placement thus very successful. Once you get used to the tablet, it happens virtually not mean that one damps the speaker with your fingers.
+ The sound is loud and clear. One should not expect too much, but there is nothing to complain about.
** Connection: **
+ With WiFi: 802.11a / b / g / n / ac, MIMO always a good connection, and WiFi ac willingness to turn the tablet for the future is ready
+ Bluetooth 4.0 LE
+ NO NFC. I find nothing wrong, but wanted to mention it anyway.
+ Micro-USB 2.0
** Camera: **
+ 8 megapixel (MP) main (rear) camera with LED flash, and a 2.1 MP secondary (front) camera. Many software settings available as usual from Samsung.
+ In itself really well for a tablet camera, which does not necessarily much to say. Nevertheless, for me no deduction because, just as little as I would complain about a car for a missing coffee machine, I want to complain about this here tablet camera. I buy namely no tablet in order to take photographs;)
+ By default, the captured images is the 6MP recording, not 8MP
+ Video Recording: FHD (1920 x 1080) @ 30fps, wens interested :)
+ Camera Conclusion: If you like photographed with a tablet, is right here.
** Battery: **
+ The promised 10 hours holding the tablet under normal conditions, definitely. Did she even surpassed most!
+ That is with constant use keeps the Tablet about 2 days, with less use good 4+.
** Price: **
+ Yes, it's not cheap. But that's what it should not be. The Galaxy Tab 8.4 S is the direct competitor to the iPad mini with Retina display, and thus it must be able to offer something, and doing it well. I find justified the price.
This is in my opinion the best tablet that Samsung has produced to date. Nevertheless, a star deduction, because it still is room for improvement. In particular, the software should be improved. I find that fewer, more sophisticated features to be integrated. In addition, with 3GB of RAM, it should not be any micro stuttering more. The liquid of an iPad is just not quite there, which I think is a real shame because this tablet would have more to offer otherwise.
