I was looking for a closed headphone because my Philips X1's only limited portability, or as an open handset generally take away is not the best idea. The Philips is now my reference, so to speak. That headphones conjured me at once a smile on your face as I sat him for the first time, just awesome. So, now for CAL2 or ATH-M50. While the ATH-M50 Sonically the X1 quite can hold a candle, so the CAL 2 falls by mercilessly. Because of the good reviews here, it may be natural that I got a defective copy, because a so dull and mushy sound I would simply not expected in the price range around 100. Businesses I have the whole of a FIIO E07K in DAC mode, with a neutral setting. I have alluded to two or three more songs of different genres, it remained, however, in deciding to dull to unclear and undefined. The ATH-M50 plays compared much more open, although I personally average heights are a bit too present (compared with X1). However, this is a matter of taste.
The comfort of CAL2 is good, because there is really nothing to complain about, but the ATH-M50 is a little better better, and the X1 is outstanding in this respect. I think the cable is a bad joke, it looks cheap, the volume control is inaccurate and rustles slightly when adjusting. Well the advantage you have at once a headset, I would still exchange it.
Conclusion: If I should have caught no defective model, I can only advise against the headset, more like 30 to me he was not concerning the sound value. And because of looks and comfort alone Buy I no headphones. However, I can recommend the ATH-M50, with me two-three disadvantages, sweaty ears, (to) long cable and for my taste a little too prominent medium altitudes.
