Jai received a first unit white I have never been able to turn, even after a full charge! The seller found the fault and my repaid.
Shortly after, I nevertheless decided to order a second, this time in black, having found that white was messy.
Here to summarize what I was able to note, after several weeks of use:
POSITIVE POINTS
- Price / quality interesting
- The unit strength, which has already suffered a fall without suffer. The shell of my former Wiko Dolfy was a bit thicker and had the gaff several falls on tiles and some stays in the sand at the beach.
- Duration of the interesting battery: 3 to 6 days depending lusage. It is a little worse than for Dolfy but jose hope that this battery will in time. After three years of use daily, my former Dolfy still holds the charge a good ten days without problem. This is unusual enough to be reported!
- Large, clear display, which can adjust the brightness; simple icons. The touch screen of Dolfy mode has been removed in favor of shortcut keys that make things easier. Well done!
- The key lock system has also changed. The keyboard will automatically lock after 15 seconds, 30 seconds or 1 minute (choice). It is not possible to lock it manually, so it takes at least 15 seconds before you can store the phone in his bag or his pocket as that it passes a call or a message nenvoie inadvertently.
- Possibility to connect the phone to a computer via USB (which recharge same time): handy for saving data (including contacts) from the phone to the computer, or import music and images.
- Applications available: radio (which captures well and offers the possibility to record an emission song) MP3 Player (good quality), video player, photo album, camera (to consider becoming "troubleshooting" quautre thing, given the quality), camera (ditto), voice recorder, calendar, calculator, alarm. The games on the Dolfy were removed.
- The sound is good and clear, both for the phone to the mp3 player. The volume is easily adjusted.
- The speaker is correct; den can adjust the volume (transaction renew each communication by going to "Options": it's a bit laborious).
- Shortcut keys and keys "dedicated" on the keyboard are practical and customizable. New: A shortcut key to the music, another for email, one for each of sim cards.
- The kit supplied earphones is quite correct, even if the earbuds do not fit into place and end up hurting ears because they not Nont dembout foam.
- 3.5mm jack for connecting any headphones: handy.
- E-Book reader can read documents in txt format. I downloaded several novels. By cons, beware: you must first delete all the accents and cedillas documents before saving them in txt format, otherwise end up with lots of little white rectangles in the text. Such negligence Wiko is quite incomprehensible. But once the manipulation performed (in Word, with the editing function> replace it fast enough), I appreciate being able to use my laptop as a mini E-Book; the absence of accents does not interfere too much reading.
- The QWERTY keyboard is a real plus point and it turned improved from the Wiko Dolfy: a touch of "capital" and one key for dinterrogation points have been added.
- The alarm works even when the phone is off, which wasnt the case with Dolfy.
- Finally, it is possible to use two sim cards.
NEGATIVE POINTS
- Memory of the phone derisory; impossible to store any picture, any piece of music without an additional memory card.
- Bluetooth is almost unusable: unable to connect the device via Bluetooth to my computer (a Mac) while I never had this problem with any phone. Recognition of the devices is done, but not data exchange.
Fortunately, there is a USB port! Could this also connect via Bluetooth to the car's GPS.
- The limited number of characters in SMS (640 characters, provided it does not put circumflex accents or cedilla, otherwise the number of characters down to less than a hundred).
- The fact that the received sms arrive in several pieces lorsquils are too long, instead to arrive in one message.
- The poor quality of mms, which are very long to load, or that fail to load at all, and in which the pictures are so small it takes a magnifying glass to look at them.
- That the proposed method décriture by default in SMS mode is "smart", aka T9 (predictive décriture mode) without capital letters. In principle, the QWERTY keyboard provides just the writing to use predictive. Before each new message, so I have to perform two operations: to switch the input mode to capital letters and beginning of the sentence. I think this is a design error because the Dolfy, the input mode can be defined once and for all in the "parameters" of the system. In the "Phone settings" of "Minz", there has two different settings: "language" and "Default input mode", but it only sets the language! In my view, this is therefore a mistake.
- The number of SMS that can be stored in memory (either on the phone or on the SIM card, but not on the memory card) decreased further: less than a hundred! What moblige personally to empty the "Inbox" and the box of "messages" every week.
- When the maximum number of stored messages is reached, the Inbox can not receive new messages (and if lon then seeks to empty it at that time, it also deletes the messages that were waiting to be received) and it is no longer possible to send den either: not only shipment fails, but the message lon wrote sefface! There is more then than done some space by deleting messages and tap a second time lon na sms that failed to send.
- The very limited number of characters per contact in the phonebook: not describe the full first and last name, and I do not mean the rest (no possibility to put two numbers or dadresse in a contact).
- The lack of options for customizing the home screen: it is only possible to change the screensaver background and choose whether lon wishes to see the date and time (and in what format) or not. But precisely, the date and time are written in small print, and it is not possible to enlarge.
- That too: the name of the sender of a text message at the top of the list of messages received when lon scrolls that list, but not in the SMS itself.
- Some bugs: When I type a text message and I want to put a punctuation mark (either a point, a comma, or dinterrogation point), once this three-step double the previous letter instead of typing the punctuation wanted.
- Finally, a big black spot for me: can not find a headset that is compatible with the Wiko Minz! Indeed I usually call with headsets, but the kit comes with the phone is not comfortable (atria that do not take up and hurt the ears). Jai thus successively controlled and tested (thank you Amazon!): Nokia WH-600 headset, Sennheiser Adidas PMX 685, Jabra Sport, a Yurbuds Adventure Line Explore Talk Sport and Uming. My friend also lent a JVC headphones. No na worked with Wiko Minz! It seems that the problem comes from the microphone, because for the headphones without a microphone, no problem (for me jOperation Sony).
In conclusion: Wiko Minz is for those people looking for a simple phone to make calls, write and receive text messages, listen to the radio or music. The Wiko Minz seems reliable, robust and has a battery that holds well the load. However, it is a bit limited for those who send and receive lots of SMS, and it is problematic for those wishing to call at length with headphones or earbuds. Finally, there is obviously no caters to those looking for a phone to connect to the internet or have of a good camera, or having many applications.
