The technical data are everywhere, so just a few subjective impressions of me, which I hope will help in the purchase decision:
- Processing
- Handling
- Video Quality
- Photo quality
- Conclusion
Processing / 5 stars
Positive
- Processing Canon 600d is excellent. Nothing wobbles. Sure, the haptics at a 60d or even 5D is of course better. But for a 5D you have to spend for the body (let alone lenses) for example, more than 1,000 more. The 60d can almost nothing significantly better than the 600d (trigger faster - just in sports photography / fast movements required).
- The 60d is "splash-proof". Which led me to thinking, because I want to use the camera while on holiday. However, I have filmed with the 600d on the beach and pictures taken, the camera has gotten salt water spray and was permanently sunscreen smeared, sandy, served saltwater hands. Wet wiping and running like new. Here I'm really surprised extremely positive.
- The Flipscreen it also allows display fold in with the screen facing inwards, the best protection against damage to the display when the camera is not in use.
Handling / basic functions 4 stars
Positive
- The battery life is excellent. I shoot photos churning and must only every 2 days the battery change. An effective replacement battery is however definitely recommended.
- Excellent I find the SD card (as opposed to flash cards as the 7d) can be used.
- The autofocus is extremely fast
- The camera moves very quickly, and image / video settings can be fixed, so that an image under time pressure can be made very quickly with the correct settings
- The controls are all arranged beautifully. You can use each button quickly and without finger acrobatics
Neutral
- The Canon is relatively easy to use. One should study the manual, however, already. My Unversed friends can use a Nikon D3000 easier.
Negative
- Very useful video features missing - why can I not set automatic focus shift, crosswalk showing of good over / under exposed areas, etc., which can not be other DSLR's, inasmuch as no great deduction.
- Automatic image capture / Duration Exposure: EXTREMELY annoying when you want to make a timelapse. Either one has an additional device (Programmable Logic LCD Timer release for Canon EOS 60D, 600D, 1100D, 550D, 500D, 450D, 1000D, 400D, 350D, 300D, PowerShot G10, G11 replaces TC-80N3 function) to purchase or the camera about his Laptop use. The same goes for long exposures over 30 seconds. So you have to keep the shutter button pressed for several minutes. So more and more to lug equipment costs. Nikon has thought better here, that you really have to say.
- No access to other paths of the SD card but only to the Canon folder - very annoying when you want to create space and time only the camera at hand has (one can only fully format)
Video quality / 4.5 star
Positive
- The fold-out display is worth gold, unusual angles are easy excellent abzufilmen
- Crop Mode: Zoom in Video with excellent quality (simply enter times on YouTube Crop Mode 600d Moon and convince leave) - I use it often, but only with a tripod.
- Ingenious quality to ISO 1600 (see youtube "600d low light"). Ingenious Also in relative darkness and clear shots
- 60 frames / second possible
- The video quality is just great - with different lenses and the right software, Adobe Premiere Pro Creative Suite 5.5 can be realized MAC German film quality
Negative
- When shooting video, there is only the view on the screen, not through the viewfinder. Very annoying when filming in strong light. Then you see the filmed only afterwards in the shade
- Why can not you switch by pressing a button in the Video mode, but must first turn to the end of the function? Annoying.
- No HD Ready 1080s videos. The file size is breathtaking (500MB at 90 seconds)
Photo quality:
I am not as the Fotonarr, so I'd rather leave the rating in this category connoisseurs.
Conclusion:
Overall there is 4.5 stars. The Canon 600D is a great camera for good money. The movie / photo quality is awesome and the operation of the camera is very fast. In addition, the processing is top. The Flipscreen allows unusual angle in great quality.
Long exposure / release at intervals: it's me these basic functions are not a complete mystery why possible. Since Canon could think with more time. I am really angry here very. Video shooting in looking through the viewfinder would be very useful. More video formats would be great.
Do not forget
The important "piece of equipment" is still the man. With the right lighting, the right picture and the good idea you can make up to a professional level with this camera everything. And the lenses you can also use to other bodies. Bottom line, a strong buy recommendation.
Many Greetings
Simon
PS when the recession was helpful, I would be happy with a click :)
ADDENDUM to - when shooting video, there is only the view on the screen, not through the viewfinder. Very annoying when filming in strong light. Then you see the filmed only afterwards in the shade
Thank you for pointing E.Nice. Its construction, films and view in the viewfinder is not possible. Also not at Nikon. Thus, no more criticism.
ADDENDUM 2: Continuous shooting
In many cases, the low burst frequency is called in comparison with other DSLRs. Especially when shooting sports or fast transient moments important. I have the weekend photos of skateboarders made with the continuous shooting mode. I could almost always reach a really good image in the series. Thus, the relatively low frequency is probably only for the professional a problem, absolutely sufficient for private use.
