But I was wrong. The Logitech Harmony 300 is truly unbeatable when it comes to the price-performance ratio.
The Advantages:
- Very simple and intuitive installation: It runs everything "online" from, a reasonable graphically processed program takes you through all the steps. It does not take long and you have to first determine only device manufacturer and model number. You can pre-check on the Internet whether his unit is also supported. Programming is then ultra-fix. Top!
- Many choices: with the default settings after installation, you can start right away, but it may be that some key functions are not yet optimal. However, the buttons can be easily drag-and-drop change and assign other functions of the device - as you like. If a function is not listed, should be able to reprogram this also using the original remote control. I did, however, not have to try.
- Good design: of course, is a matter of opinion, but I find a remote control does not light up and also do not have a display. Here you get a simple, sober design, the keys are well arranged wobie and the remote control is well in hand. Is logically a little larger than normal remote controls, but just not a half iPad that one awkward holding in his hand and is afraid that it breaks.
- The price: I find absolutely fair, considering what one partly has to spend on so-frills remotes.
The disadvantages:
- There is a PC with a USB and internet connection absolutely necessary: Unfortunately, there is probably no alternative. While thus the operation is very convenient, but all have no Internet and / or PC in the cold.
- Registration absolutely necessary at myharmony: You must log on with an email to use the Harmony can. I can not foresee whether I now keep getting junk mail, but either way the number is likely to deter. In addition, a program / driver must be installed.
- Equipment: unfortunately can be operated "only" 4 devices. For me perfectly adequate (TV, SAT, DVD, VCR), but many probably 5 or 6 devices (such as stereo) will want to use. For the price 4 devices are secure fair, I think it would have been technically feasible nor determined to add one or two. One of my devices does not work initially, but as a Letter of model designation was incorrect. I do not know if the fault lies here at the manufacturer or at Logitech.
Conclusion: I do not like the term, but "people remote" meets it quite well. For the average user, who calls a PC and internet connection to its own, the Harmony 300 is super. For a small price you get an easy to use universal remote. I for one am perfectly happy. If she still holds some time without the two batteries to quickly give up their mind or peel the key labels, I am really very satisfied.
PS: delivery:, batteries and USB cable.
