Meanwhile, the updates have been released .198 and .199. The problem that drained the battery in standby (fast) appears to be resolved. Even the Launcher has become probably a bit faster. Further improvements are I had not noticed benefits after one week.
*** Update 12/09/2014
For some time now has already fallen to me, that is yet sucked in standby, the battery very quickly. I would say about 5% loses the battery in just under two hours. This was in my opinion not the case before, possibly it is up to the penultimate ".182" -Update. Previously to version .191 I could not update. About three weeks ago failed this update, since said the tablet, it is up to date. Also on the Asus site directly there to load only older updates. So wait until another appears and until the tablet is not set in standby mode and switch off completely.

Initial situation:
Actually, an eBook reader should be bought. If possible, Amazon's Paperwhite or an equivalent device. Then on the exploring I noticed the reader're all black and white. Even though I rarely read comics (CBR format), but can it should be as part of already - and of course also in color.
So then came just a tablet in the price range and size of a good eBook reader (100 to 130 euros) in question. A bit of searching before I needed it then the Asus Memo Pad 7 found next to all the Tablets with outdated MTK processors. The built-Intel processor of Memo Pad 7 is even not the newest, but still a very good - I know this but also from various Windows Tablets. But only 1 GB of Ram? My fear: Is something nowadays still pending? Should you rather 50 euros (or more) draufschlagen and take a tablet with 2GB? No, because my answer would be
Advertising for the Memo Pad 7 as entry-level tablet. I have since anticipate the same, as a beginner I would pad, despite only 1GB and no Full HD resolution, not necessarily entitle. Rather already good middle class. Or maybe entry-middle class? A 1080p resolution you do not need anyway on such a small display. This makes the font smaller and only pulls more on the battery, which should be measured at just under 4000 mAh. Here you can see the e-comparisons, ie Untenrum, ever forget :)
Antutut Benchmark:
Where the e-length comparator but may again listen up: The Antutu benchmark score. I lead this spaßenshalber always with a new Android device. There then came out 33055. Hm, since you look then first stupid. Can this be? Even if the good Intel processor with its maximum 4x 1.86GHz doing a great service to me (only 8xx MB of which are available) was that, precisely because of the scarce (?) 1GB of RAM, a bit high before. So let the Antutu X version tasted. How it works: Antutu X is for Chinese smart phones and tablets meant, because these manufacturers like to cheat or modify, so that the normal Antutu version spends a higher value slightly. In Antutu X it required six attempts until I got a crash without scarce 28000er value. Crashes occur probably because of its different measured benchmark, which are adapted to the processors as China MediaTek or Rockchip. As I have already written too much so to nem ollen benchmark was only told that therefore are already realistically 33055. Or not
Performance:
Yes, here the 1 GB come into play. For processor I have already written that this is very good, but also the RAM memory is not too bad. Although it can sometimes lead to stuttering when you want to start or exit an app, but these have disappeared after about one or two seconds. I suspect there times a little bold to slow Ram. But ok, it is also only advertised as entry-level tablet. By the way: In Apps I have been able to festellen no stuttering. It also run any games. Well this is now lying. A Samsung Galaxy S5 can not deal with all apps. But I think you understand what I want out. If not, anyone can like to ask questions in the comments. Plus point for the Asus Tablet: the RAM memory can be relatively easy to clean by up to the right, near the clock, the bar pulls down and selects the Ram Booster.
Display:
Here I was surprised. Beautifully sharp, punchy and clear HD screen! As I said, it is not necessarily a 1080p resolution or even an AMOLED display. Also, I was pleased that I was unaware of before purchasing or have read about it, that the Asus Memo Pad 7 has a read mode. For me, as someone who wanted to buy an eBook reader that a real surprise of course was. In read mode, the display is dimmed and the colors are displayed differently. This is to protect the eyes while reading and not get tired. Great Thing. Whether or not perhaps the battery is spared, can unfortunately only to find out in a few weeks. Unfortunately, the display reflects and is quick with fingerprints "vollgegatscht" (which one sees but only when switched off).
Battery:
The Memo Pad 7 is advertised with 9 and 10 hours of operation. After several charge cycles I can, although I have not quite reached its full capacity, say that is a real value. If you naturally XBMC Power User, or hours King "games (Candy Crush Saga, etc) plays that suck the battery empty, then one naturally does not create 10 hours time for comparison. When I get a new Android device, is it first continuously tested through its paces. Ok, check rather not, but there are all the settings have been made, as I would have like to phone or tablet, all the necessary apps are installed and configured. Then even watch videos, mail queries games play - just everything you so want to try at the beginning of The tablet comes pre-loaded with approximately 45% was enough for the conditions for about 4 hours for a battery that has not yet reached its full capacity, very good...!
Other:
For an entry-Tablet 16 GB of internal memory but are already large sized. Normally this would be 8 GB standard. Or if it runs very poorly, even only 4 GB. We have 16, and which are nearly 10 GB usable. These are designed for normal users more than adequate. Who but needs more who simply pushes one a micro SD card. Root is possible, therefore the system is also open to another. I personally use something to make an android device free of advertising, but also for backups, or, if available (not yet), for Custom Roms or recovery. Nor can uninstall so some preinstalled apps. After that I had not noticed any of the above mentioned stuttering more. I therefore recommend, Facebook, Hangouts, Chrome etc to remove. Something does not need to be fixed in the system - that you can download and even in the Play Store. The sound is also surprisingly succeeded. Because I know a lot of smart phones and tablets that are worse. But I have to say, even if the speakers are loud, so true that, as is the case with many devices to not to connected headphones. Too bad, here I would have liked more "bums".
Conclusion:
As noted at the beginning: I would recommend the Asus Memo Pad 7 (not to be confused with the HD 7) highly recommended. For 130 euros you doing here at this entry-level tablet nothing wrong. Good Processor & Performance, large and upgradeable memory, super screen and Root. What more do you want?
Absolute buy recommendation!
