Integration into existing powerline network works perfectly

The network cables run in our family house for many years (2007) over the household power supply (Powerline) - only with a maximum of 14 Mbit per second, today even with nominally 650 Mbit / s. We have remained true to the manufacturer DEVOLO from the outset. Currently potter with us four adapters 650 + series (650+ Devolo dLAN Starter Kit).

From the first floor up to the home theater and the Home Office in the basement work Powerline connections fully reliable. Only the junior uses in his room WLAN far. Due to the home theater expansion on tablet PC control of the components it was necessary to have also in the basement area on reliable wireless connectivity. So-called repeaters are here not necessarily the best solution, because they require a certain minimum signal strength or quality. However, this is due to various factors (strong attenuation of the signal as it passes through the floors; interference by wireless networks of neighbors) where rare. Unique advantage of this adapter is that it is connected via the power line directly to the network, thus allowing the maximum possible data rate.

After e-mail checking with the customer service of the manufacturer DEVOLO (this was as always very competent) it was confirmed that the adapter discussed here without sacrificing the other terminals can be connected to the existing home network.

It was as simple as one would expect from this manufacturer:
- Before plugging in the outlet port of the 16-digit security key (sec-ID) and the equally long WLAN (WiFi Key) must be recorded. These are printed on the male side of the adapter and are concealed after fitting.
- Adding the adapter goes on the Devolo dLAN Cockpit program (available on the website of the manufacturer) very simple: click links below to add, enter verification code to finish. The variant via pressing the encryption keys at once new and the existing adapter goes of course.
- The LEDs on the adapter can be switched off via the program as needed as with all newer adapters.
- If necessary, the LAN connection can be used on the adapter to connect an additional device wired to the network.

It works perfectly: Using the adapter in the basement corridor to reach home cinema and office in the basement and even the living room downstairs with acceptable data rates to 65 Mbit / s.
