First I have to say I am an avid Ubuntu users why I bought this netbook without system.
With much anticipation (long) wait until finally mid-December, the C-70 version was sold.
So unpacked and installed Ubuntu: The first time that I had with a PC problems Ubuntu !? the mouse pad does not work and the screen is bright and crazy I got the not dark! Since I needed for many forum and attempts until I solved the problem so far had that I can live with it. But Say Mouse does not work, the scroll function. The screen can be adjusted in brightness, I can watch HD movies with it, but it is in the lower right corner: AMD Unsupported Hardware :-(
Nevertheless, it works a lot better on Ubuntu Netbook as under Win7, at the lean processor I will not try until Win8, which can not run properly. (Details to solve the problems Ubuntu I write under the article)
Now I had the netbook running on and have ordered an immediate 7mm SSD 120GB because I use only SSD's in Laptop's and Netbook's because the systems extremely quick startup, a SSD is not as susceptible to shocks and to get much much longer with the battery. There's me 100 Euros for a 299 Euros netbook worth it.
Currently I have Win7 and Ubuntu installed the Win7 I have only because of the Dreambox and I use as my turn VCDS per diagnostic unit to read the error memory with VAG cars and if necessary to encode. For this netbook is perfect!
Small, light and the battery lasts a long time with SSD.
For working and surfing with the netbook, I prefer clearly before Ubuntu, because it faster to boot, the battery will last at least. 30-40 minutes longer than with Win7 and is as always simple liquid. Within 2-3 seconds from standby (with SSD).
But still for Speed: It is a netbook with 2x1GHz computing power, also an update to more than 4GB bring something never because the weakest link is the processor! I hereby very well and smoothly surf the WLAN. I can also Firefox, Chromium and Chrome run together can as long as it comes to forums, Ebay, Amazon or webmail it is still running smoothly. But if I want to try to edit larger amounts or data on the server to push through USB 3.0, then do something else besides her it's flipbook. Just as Flash-based browser games such as Command and Conquer Tiberium Alliances, you can forget about the netbook, since it stutters only one frame at a permanent 100% utilization of the processor.
So this netbook is very good if you are looking for a small handy pc watching TV at Chaten, Facebook, Ebay, Amazon and its webmail want to check. If I were a student, this would be to take my netbook with the university, it also reached the loose.
Text editing seems to be working well but I'm rare.
But who expects Ultrabook, should better buy an Ultrabook, but only beginning from at least I5 and 500-600 Euros.
Such a laptop I have also but I use less and less thanks to the Aspire One 725. I find it class.
Nevertheless, it will not get 5 points, since it in my opinion for Windows and above all in order to Windows to work is to slow the processor ago and you get him on Ubuntu with a few tricks to run! And you necessarily expects 100 Euros for a SSD with a, whether the netbook here or another laptop or Ultrabook, which is the ultimate tuning!
So far my experience with the Aspire One 725,
Sincerely Pipovitch
Ps Here are the promised remedies under Ubuntu!
The touchpad problem:
Open the Terminal
cd /etc/modprobe.d/
gksudo gedit options.conf
In the text editor, type: options psmouse proto = imps
Save the file and close it.
sudo modprobe -r psmouse
sudo modprobe psmouse
+ Restart and then every time the Fn F7 & already works the touchpad
-------------------------------
In order to adjust the screen brightness can:
System Settings
Software repositories
(Top right) Additional drivers
then it selects the proprietary of fglrx with updates and installs the
+ Restart, then you have indeed in the lower right corner Unsupported hardware available, but it all works.
Whoever finds a better solution, please report ;-)
--------------------------------
Then still an annoying problem in almost all laptops running Ubuntu works quite easy to disable the error message "charge status is critical" if one pulls out the power supply and then every time he goes to standby:
Start Terminal.
-First the package dconf-tools must be installed:
sudo apt-get install dconf tools
-Then the dconf editor call:
dconf Editor
Now -In the window that appears under org> gnome> settings-daemon> plugins> power for the entry critical-battery-action and set the value to nothing
Editor close, finished.
