The turntable itself was promptly delivered by Amazon after it was pretty annoying delivery problems with a third party previously selected.
The delivery is next to the turntable an RCA cable for connection to a phono input, a USB cable, a CD with Audacity and a printed manual in German and French. As mentioned here several times, the audio cable is quite short. In most cases, therefore, an extension cord will be necessary, which is not particularly annoying in my case, since I already need a plug adapter. For the USB cable, the longer what is pleasing and should comply with the most stand-up situations (short distance between turntable and stereo, for a long way from the record player to the PC / Mac).
Audacity is for me one of the most successful examples of free software - that the producers have decided to resolve it on CD, I think somehow "old-fashioned"; possibly you could also do without it.
== == Installation
Attaching the separate turntable on the turntable is inclusive reading the manual and understanding the image in a matter of 30 seconds: The rubber belt is pulled by means of a textile band on the drive, and you're done. Unlike a previous speaker, I consider the way the felt mat neither puny nor worse than a rubber mat, and I had no problems with static electricity or the like.
The turntable is stable on rubber feet, while the turntable is mounted slightly swinging and therefore should put away normal vibrations loose. Again, one must of course - especially if, like me, still knows the "real" dual-products - do not expect miracles.
== == Play
There is a start and stop automatic. So it's not necessary to move and lower the tone arm manually. The tonearm should be balanced correctly with my model, because on automatic he is quite gently lowered to the plate and makes no noise there.
Anyone who wants can also do it all manually, because there is a dedicated button for lifting and lowering the tone arm.
Three other switches control the following options:
+ Speed (33/45 - shellac owners thus remain sidelined)
+ Plate size (LP / Single, for the automatic)
+ Connection (Phono / Line to suit the connections to the stereo)
Direct the laying of the first board was actually a pretty positive result. Since the board was new, there was virtually no noise and the sound was clear. The automatic operates (and now) properly. The drive is a soft, singing sound of itself - much like a conventional CD drive. By covering the sound coming directly from the needle, highly remains limited. There are - at least for my configuration - no hum.
De facto, you can at DOMICILED disk device use as a CD player: Press "Start" and off you go!
Since I deal pretty spitzfingerig and careful with such things, there has been no problem with the service or with the handling of the plates.
== == Recording
For me (currently) not so important but still worth a try: Taking a drive on the computer. According to the manufacturer operate at least Windows PCs and Macs. I had already installed the latest version of Audacity, but would like to say on this occasion that the whole subject receiving probably is only suitable for people who have a little knowledge of computers. All others should be when it comes around you record, well get another turntable which provides more simplicity in this regard. After setting up Audacity (plus additional install FFmpeg and / or LAME) is a true made not really hard, but is not quite trivial and is considered by some contemporaries perceived as safe "Gefrickel".
Once you connect the turntable via USB to the computer (I use a notebook with Windows 7), it should be automatically detected. The unit will be installed as "Microsoft Soundmapper" and can thus be selected in Audacity as a recording device. After a short Aussteuerungstätigkeit (when the noise to arg are, the source is set to loud) you can start recording. Since the software used is modern and contemporary, the result is actually surprisingly good. If a record is in good condition and is in accordance with dust reduced, you can create secure good sounding mp3 files
My conclusion, as already mentioned at the outset: To these fairly low price you get a reasonably good all-round device for a more than satisfactory everyday use. Power User, Audiophile, or people who want to digitize their entire record collection are better off under circumstances with an alternative, and must take almost certainly (much) more money in the hand.
